We took the Banff Gondola up Sulphur Mountain to enjoy a memorable lunch at the Sky Bistro in March. The views were incredibly stunning in every direction, including towering, snow covered mountains from six different ranges, the beautiful Bow Valley and town of Banff. The...dining room is a suitable size to provide a nice ambiance, with fresh flowers on each table and delicious food, beautifully presented. You can choose à la carte dining or The Sky Experience which includes gondola admission, and a choice of appetizer and entrée. Two members of our party chose à la carte dining and one member chose The Sky Experience. We were all very pleased with the food as well as the wine and cocktail selections. This really is a fine dining experience! The desserts were great as well. After our gourmet meal we walked the interpretive boardwalk to the historic Cosmic Ray Station. I highly recommend The Sky Bistro and Banff Gondola. For amazing service ask for Alyssa. Her suggestions for drinks and dessert were excellent.More

The Sky Bistro lunch menu was great for us adults and we really enjoyed our food. However, the kids menu left much to be desired. On paper it sounds fine... our kids are food adventurous and not afraid of flavour. Kids meal 1 was the...pasta with tomato sauce. Flavour less and dry, it absorbed in to the pasta and had little to offer. Kids meal 2 was the burger. Literally a plain patty on a dry bun. No lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayonnaise, ketchup... zippo. Our kids were so disappointed. When we were ready to go, we weren’t offered the kids dessert (ice cream scoop or worms in dirt) and left, only realizing later it was included in the paid “experience”. The views are fantastic, but I’m not sure it’s worth it with kids in tow. Sky Bistro chefs could do well in addressing the kids menu and stepping it up a notch.More

Bought a Banff Gondola ride and lunch package for the Sky Bistro. We were very happy with the atmosphere of the Bistor, it was very nice. The food options with the package were good and saved us up to $20 on each person. The food...was very good and the service was excellent. Servers were very friendly and made you feel special. We had Hugo who presented himself in a professional manner but was also willing to spend a little time talking and sharing knowledge and experiences. He was excellent at his job and made our lunch very specialMore

I booked the lunch with our gondola ride. You are given limited options for your appetizer and entree. They do try to cover a variety though. My husband had the soup of the day (potato) and the fish and chips. The potato soup was a...bit spicy and very salty. The bread that came with the soup was odd; the flavor was off (like it had absorbed freezer flavors). He found the fish to be very greasy. I had the spinach salad and short rib stroganoff with “homemade” pappardelle noodles. The spinach salad was tasty. The short ribs were stringy and chewy (needed to be cooked longer so they were tender). The noodles were clearly not fresh made; they looked and tasted commercially made. The sauce was just okay; it was separating. Our child’s entree was a tiny bowl of pasta (suitable for 5 and under). Unfortunately, our kiddo is over 5, so this was not nearly enough food, especially for the price paid. Unless you are a party of two, you won’t get a table by the window. Our server was fantastic and checked on us frequently. She was the best part of the dining experience. There is a foul smell of drain by the bathrooms that seems to be coming from the kitchen area. It’s extremely unpleasant and can be smelled as you wait to check in for your table. Clearly, there is a sanitary issue in the kitchen that should be addressed immediately. As someone who has worked in the industry, I highly suggest scrubbing and foaming the floor drains to address the smell. Covid has screwed the restaurant industry and forced chefs to reduce costs and use shortcuts. I get it, but don’t charge us for executive chef prices.More

We did a gondola ride and then booked a last minute table at the Sky Bistro. I have to say it’s one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Cory our server was absolutely amazing and a delight to talk with. Everything about our...visit was top notch and I can highly recommend this restaurant. Cory definitely made our visit special and the rest of the staff were amazing. Can’t wait to visit again. The views are to die for and it’s such a relaxing experience. Great wine selection and of course the food has a high quality.More
