Our first experience was so incredible that we went back again the next night! From the moment you walk into this restaurant you feel transported from the sleepy beach/party town of Puerto Peñasco to an upscale dining ambiance including beautifully appointed tables, soft lighting and and soft background music. Our waiter, Angel, was the highlight of the evening. He knowledgeably guided us through the menu and offered advice when asked. His recommendations were spot on and we quickly learned to order whatever he felt would accent our meal. He was very attentive and was simply a pleasure to talk with. The food was delicious! We have traveled to 37 countries but sincerely feel that this was the absolute best meal and dining experience we have ever had. My husband had the 22 oz Cowboy steak and loved it so much he ordered it again the next night. Cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I had the tenderloin the first night and coconut shrimp the second. The tenderloin was cooked exactly how I requested and so tender I probably could have cut it with a butter knife. The coconut shrimp were large and tender. The savory habañero mango dipping saucer that accompanied it accented the sweet flavor of the shrimp very well. These meals were very affordable. Our first meal including appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert, a few cocktails and after dinner aperitif only came to $160.00 US. Garufa’s is a MUST! We will be returning and will be asking for Angel!

We went last weekend for the first time. We have been coming to Rocky Point for many years and never went there. Mainly because we heard that it was expensive and American prices. Not true!! The prices were very reasonable. You could never get this type of service or quality in the states for the same price. The service was top notch and we could feel that they cared about our experience. The food was amazing!! Everything was perfect. I had the surf and turf and my wife had the flounder with white cream sauce. They serve the most incredible warm rolls with a variety of dipping bowls. Awesome place. We are already planning our night back next weekend!

This is a newer steakhouse on a road to some of the condo resorts. It has great steaks at good prices, especially when you pay in pesos. Friendly staff and full table side service are paired with wonderful starters and steak. We went as a family after seeing the menu the night before. The kids each ordered pasta dishes that had significant portions and good sauces. The adults shared the tomahawk bone in ribeye clocking in at 36 oz. We ordered a grilled octopus to start and roasted vegetables and mushrooms as sides as well as an empanada for curiosity. We would have ordered salads but weren’t sure with local water issues, so we tried the beet carpaccio. The octopus was tender and perfectly grilled but be ready that it is obvious what it is. The empanada was great. The ribeye was flavorful and perfectly medium rare as we ordered. It was even better with the chimichurri on top that comes with the rolls. In the end, it came out to their quote of $170 US. I paid in pesos instead. The next day my bank exchange rate showed the total tab at $136, so the local exchange rate is less in your favor to get more out of tourists. We will be back for more.

It is impossible to begin to explain the experience at this horrible place. On the outside, this establishment appears to be a "high-end, fine dining" experience, but it is thousands of miles far from being one. This place is terrible, that I am trying to erase the experience from my memories. We had a reservation at 7 pm, for which we arrived 15 mins early, and we were offered our table at 7:30 pm. After being at our table for 20 mins, the waiter finally brought us water and asked us if we were ready to order. The waiter asked nothing else other than what our order was. He did not get any bread to our table; we had to ask for it. We ended up placing our order for appetizers and main course meal; we ordered spinach Fritters and Fried Octopus as appetizers. The Spinach Fritters were not fresh; they looked like they had been sitting under a plate warmer for quite some time; as for the fried octopus, that looked okay. Between the delivery of the appetizer and the main course, 56 mins went by. During this time, the waiter did not check on us, didn't bring us water refills, nor gave us any updates on our food. As we sat there, I grew more and more impatient about the situation (I am a teacher, and patience is my friend) since I noticed our waiter, Juan, taking care of two big parties diligently and ignored us completely. Maybe he thought that the tip would be more prominent there, so he shifted his to those two tables.
SO, after 56 minutes, I stook, and I went to speak to the manager. I was "greeted" by the rudest, most indifferent, and exacerbating individual I have ever come across. I told him about my experience, asked him to cancel my order that I wanted to leave. He claimed that my order ready and there was nothing he could do about it. I swallowed my anger, went back to my table, and indeed, my food was already by my table. BUT IT WAS DELIVERED COLD! I asked the expo to bag the food, as I had no plans on consuming the meals there. As I requested food to be placed in to-go containers, I could not help but notice that someone was positioned by the door and looked directly at us. I assume that this bleached blond woman was sent by the manager to the doors to "prevent" from leaving without paying. As if anyone could've stopped me if I wanted to go. However, I have class and morals, and even if the service was terrible, I was not going to leave an establishment without covering my bill.
I never received an apology for this treatment or any sense of caring from anyone in that establishment. As I mentioned prior, this has been by far the worse experience I have had, and I have traveled extensively across the globe. Yet, I have been treated better while eating street tacos than at this horrible, despicable place.
Do not waste your money, and save yourself from wasting a special occasion at this dungeon. If I could give not even one start, I would.

Quick summery- EXELLENT food and service
The 6 of us had various meals including a tomahawk steak, top sirloin, and gilled salmon. All were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. Our server, Angel, was wonderful. He was knowledgeable and attended to our every need. Ask for him. We have eaten in the top steak houses in the US and the food here was very comparable.
I am amazed at some of the comments regarding price. For Rocky Point it is more expensive than many of the other venues but the other venues don't serve this type or quality of food. And when you compare it to the states it is a true bargain. You would be extremely hard pressed to find food and service of this quality at this price anywhere in the US
We have been coming to Rocky Point since 1979 and have eaten at a huge number of restaurants and have our favorites, but when it comes to a high end steak dinner at a more than reasonable price you cannot beat Garufa's.
Just a quick word about desserts. We each got a different one and shared. All were delicious but the Pastel de Choclo was delicious, unique and the flavor unreal

Ordered the ribeye and without a doubt it was one of the worst pieces of beef I have every been served. It was very thin and full of gristle. No way it was 14 0z. Sent it back and ordered pasta Alfredo. It was dry! Very short on sauce. We won’t be back.

Some of you might roll your eyes at the thought of having a steak dinner in Mexico when you're surrounded by great Mexican food. If you don't go to Garufa you are missing out on a great dinner experience. They have a great menu and they have some of the best steaks even when you compare to some steak houses in the U.S. Okay, this isn't Del Frisco's or Fleming's but for a fraction of the price you're getting some fantastic steaks!
Service is fantastic! The few times we went there, we always ask for Angel to serve us. Regardless whether it's your first time or not, he makes you feel like he's welcoming you into his home for dinner. He is very candid about what is good and what is not so much. He will steer you right.
Sit back, enjoy a great meal and great service at a fraction of the cost of what you would pay in the states!

This is a fancy restaurant and we were greeted with a smile, seated and then our waiter Angel made amazing suggestions thru the meal from start to finish. Angel our waiter he kept our glasses full, brought our fried octopus (aka Zucchini-for the kids sake) we wanted the kids to try the fried octopus to their surprise they loved it and so did we. Both our porterhouse steak was excellent and the grilled chicken was super tender can cut it with a butter knife it was super moist, the best we ever had. The small margarita pizza for the kids was very delicious. Also the side dish sauteed mushrooms was superb. We had so much food and drinks for the price, it was well worth the price. We highly recommend the food and service. We WILL definitely return to this fabulous restaurant. Thank you :)

This was a girls’ trip to RP and tonight we felt like splurging on steak. Yolanda was our waitress/server for the evening and she was amazingly fantastic in every way. She indulged us in our humor and catered to our endless selfie requests as well as a dessert coffee combination that was perfect for our after meal. Thank you so much for being part of a perfect girls weekend getaway. We will definitely be back!

Wow, what a hidden gem in Rocky Point. We had a steak that was cooked to perfection, the atmosphere is so warm and inviting, and the best was our waiter, Angel! His excellent service was the highlight of our meal. Definitely a place I will recommend to all my friends, and we will be going back soon.

Last week we took our daughter for her 18th birthday along with 7 other family members and we all thought it was outstanding. From the moment we stepped in we were met with warm lighting and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff members were all incredibly accommodating from the beginning. Our server, Angel was knowledgeable, friendly, and very funny. Everything about our experience was top notch. The food was prepared perfectly, the wine recommendations were spot on, and the price was extremely reasonable. At the end of the meal the entire staff sang a beautiful song to our daughter, accompanied by a tasty complementary dessert. We will absolutely dine here every time we come to Rocky Point. Great Job!!!

We had outstanding service from Angel on Thanksgiving yesterday. Recommended amazing dishes and wine. We had the fire tuna as an appetizer incredibly fresh! The Thanksgiving dinner meal was honestly better than us trying to cook it ourselves. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp was delicious. 10/10 would recommend this spot to anyone in Sandy Beach area. Clean and amazing staff. 100% worth the money and every bite. Ask for Angel!

Excellent service- Angel and other servers are all very professional, kind and welcoming. Delicious steaks, seafood, salads and drinks. We stayed in Puerto Penasco for 2 1/2 weeks and came here 5 times- partly because my husband loves steaks and partly because of the excellent experience. If you are in town, and would like a great dining experience which is also great for date night or (well-behaved) kid friendly, I recommend you come here!

This is truly a fantastic restaurant in every way. The food, ambiance, service compares to some of the best steak houses I’ve eaten at in Chicago or LA. The wait staff, especially our server Yaya we’re extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Hard to find the words to express just how highly I recommend this gem of a restaurant.

It is a pleasure being able to walk to a location providing a quality meal. Garufa steakhouse is located just outside our Sonoran Sea Condo. Garufa offers an intimate atmosphere with a nice menu selection meeting the needs for most people. I'm a lover of Ribeye steak and was not disappointed. My wife went for the Filet and was very happy with her selection.
