Point one - always book. If you don't they may not accommodate you even if there are spare tables - maybe something to do with having enough ingredients being so remote? The hotel has stunning views almost all around but the restaurant looks over the car park so as you eat you see 4x 4s right outside the Windows! Fish... More

The location is just fantastic. Coastal views as well as to the mountains. Great base for exploring the local area. But the view is not everything and a hotel charging the sum it does for rooms needs to do more. The hotel is looking a bit unkempt...poor quality furniture inside and out. It has the air of a hostel about... More

We took a long detour to visit the Snaefellness peninsula and to stay at Hotel Budir on our second to last day of our trip. I have to admit we have seen some incredible scenery by now we may be a bit "immune" by comparison. Hotel Budir's setting is beautiful, with just the hotel and a church all alone on... More

The meal looked beautiful presented and the taste and texture of the fish dish was fine. The salt added was excessive. My wife's lamb was great BUT the sauce with it was incredibly over-powering and had the taste of Bovril / beef Oxo which really didn't complement the lamb. We were staying at the hotel for two nights and decided... More

Magnificent setting, perhaps the most beautiful area we have visited in Iceland. However, having ordered bar food, three fish and chips, we paid by some margin for the most expensive meal we have had in Iceland, and the serving was so small we ended up returning to the car to fill up on bread and bannanas! I have to say... More

Excellent and friendly service. But the food is the star of the show here. All three of our entrees were visually stunning as well as delicious. I had langoustines, cod and scallops which were served with peas, asparagus, and potato cooked with mustard seeds. Each bite seemed to deliver a new combination of flavors. A complex and confidently executed dish... More

Ok...so in fairness we did pressure our way into the restaurant-which we were told was a 'must do' while touring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula-but we've been sitting here for 90 min and were only served our appetizers (fyi mine was 'forgotten' altogether and when I was finally was able to flag over one of the 3 waiters serving us, was summarily... The menu, wine, dinner and dessert at Hotel Budir is top-notch. Our server provided excellent recommendations and we ended up with a wine-pairing dinner. The wine was paired well with our appetizer, dinner, and dessert. Fish tongue appetizer (who knew?!), beef tenderloin, chocolate raspberry mousse. Five-start quality.

Beautiful hotel & restaurant nestled in the Icelandic countryside. The restaurant serves an exquisite lamb dish that is paired with fresh ingredients from the surrounding area. The presentation of our dessert left us speechless. Overall, a fantastic experience. Reservations are recommended I my opinion.
