Called in for a bar snack, the pub was very quiet with only a couple pf patrons. The ambience was friendly. The decor was based on horse racing being close to Ascot Race Course this is understandable. They had two menus one for bar snacks...More

Lovely Sunday afternoon spent here. The food was very tasty and well presented. They went the extra miles for the kids in our party and made them chicken nuggets, even though this was not officially on the menu. Would definitely go back.

I've been eating and drinking here since 1968 and seen the place go through several owners and minor changes in style and decor. Alys on my list for a casual dinner with decent service, good food and reasonable prices. Worth reserving at the weekend and...More

We come here quite often now after discovering relatively recently. Good selection on the menu. Excellent roasts and veg selection. Some really nice wines too. Very atmospheric in the winter by the open hearth fires ... We mainly visit for Sunday late lunch or Sunday...More

The 1st class tenants apparently had ongoing disputes with the brewery and left the premises without notice Shame as they were providing excellent food and service up to this point Nothing more to add.

Description
Our traditional 16th century English country pub is set in some of Berkshire's finest countryside, and was originally a set of cottages belonging to local woodmen. With flagstone floors and open fires, it's a charming, historic setting for lunch, dinner and drinks.
