Loved our dinner at guacamaya! Great recommendations from the waiter. We got the stuffed potato, the mixed meat molcajete, and the chicharron quesadilla and it was enough for 4 of us. There was also live music, and the singer was great. Happy to have been...here!More

This place drew us in with its atmosphere and charm and the food did not disappoint. We were able to meet the owner and he was very friendly and fun to chat with. Delicious and affordable lunch and cocktails.

Probably the most authentic Mexican restaurant in San Jose. Food was fantastic. Staff great. Mariachi player was also superb and prices incredibly reasonable. Highly recommend for a fun night out.

We went here as I saw good reviews on tripadvisor. We had a car and it was easy enough to get to. Tables are spaced for social distancing if you are weary. I saw several posts about the al pastor (pork tacos), which is what...I ordered. I wasn't fond of it. It was dried out. I was expecting more. I think our previous restaurant experiences exceeded this, so I was a bit disappointed. However, my family thoroughly enjoyed it. My oldest son got the flank steak fajitas, which he loved. The horchatas were giant mugs, with Tequila written on the outside, so my sons that that was hilarious. We got guacamole (super small portion compared to other places). Tiny basket of chips. The steak tacos were delicious. We also had the churros which were okay. And the Mexican hot chocolate. It was flavorful, but way to chewy for me. I drank a few sips. Now let me tell you, I have enjoyed EVERYTHING I ate pretty much the whole trip until this place. Maybe it's just me, but I'd not waste a trip here. Also, if you plan to order margaritas ask the price. They charge $15 for margaritas that don't seem to have alcohol in them. Just tasted like margarita mix. Our fault for not asking, but come on. Overall the whole area price gouges margaritas. Just ask before ordering so you are not shocked. Favorite spots for dinner: El Toro Guero and Hangman Tacos. EXCELLENT.More

The food was AMAZING! We were only downtown for 3 nights but had to visit Guacamayas twice. Had the seafood hot bowl....shared between two and still had leftovers! Son had the steak fajitas and said they were the best!

Taco's, Volcano's, Empanada's all authentic and cooked over mesquite. Great open air indoor/outdoor atmosphere as well as a live solo musician to add to your experience!

I have been going to Gucamayas for over 10 years and have never been disappointed. Real tacos al pastor.

Love this place for pastor! thinly sliced and melts in your mouth. The chicharron de queso (what we call the cheese tunnel) is also a must have. The margaritas are tasty as well and the servers are great. You can't go wrong here!

They are always busy but they have spaced the tables far enough apart that we felt comfortable.

I think that they will accomodate that no problem and I would give them a day notice. When I was there they had a big group upstairs that was a good size group so that may be an option.

I am sure they have vegetarian options. I think they have cactus tacos. Not sure. But of course, there is always a cheese quesadilla or a bean and cheese burrito or taco.
