A great place to meet for drinks. Outside is a lovely patio, and inside is air conditioned. Drinks are strong, so stay within walking distance or arrange a taxi home!

We had dinner with 3 other couples the other night. The main dining room is charming, old-Mexico grand style. My cousin, who likes high end restaurants, said upon entering the main dining room "oh wow!!" And couldn't stop looking around. The service was outstanding, and...More

Best Sunday brunch ever! So much to choose from. Watch out for the mimosas, they are extra large I needed to lighten it up with the fresh squeezed oj from the buffet.

We are grateful to have come to this place. We came accross it when we were just looking at a higher scoring restaurant at TA. Although its score was average and apperance was not impressing, we gave it a try as it had plenty of...More

While walking around town, we stopped in at the bar for a drink. They had decent prices and cold beers. Nothing all that special.

Service and food was great. We were there for lunch - but you could tell that in the evening it could be transformed into a night club type atmosphere.

A lovely outdoor seating area and a menu with almost too many choices!! We really enjoyed our meal at the Tropicana. Lots of egg dishes as well as other Mexican specialties. We were told it was one of the best restaurants in town and we...More

In our opinion, this place has to be the BEST restaurant in the old downtown San Jose Plaza area. The interior decor of building itself is simply amazing! The colonial decor and artifacts make the main dining room look like the great hall of an...More

Food and service was very good. The place is an historic inn so was beautiful inside. The fine dining room downstairs had air conditioning. Upstairs had a live jazz trio playing so after dinner we had a drink and listened to them. Wonderful night out...More

My wife and I had late afternoon margaritas inside at Tropicana. Our waitress wore a scarf, I believe, and she was really helpful and friendly, but I did not get her name - sorry.
requesting comment from Tropicana staff - In 2010 my wife and I were privileged to have spent our honeymoon at the Presidente and we dined at the Tropicana. Roberto was our waiter and while there we shopped and bought a multi-colored plate which did not make it home safely. Is Roberto still there, and how may I shop for plates from the USA? Steve
