This place looks like it has it all, beach front, uninterrupted views, cocktails and food. However, service is deplorable, really rude and so bad they make you feel uncomfortable and then expect a big tip. Food was ok, menu is extensive and meal sizes are huge. Feel like they just want to feed you, demand a huge tip and then kick you out so they can do it all over again. Such a shame because this place could be so much more. To be brutally honest, the wait staff need to do a course in people skills, social settings and serving tourists.

Great views, large portions

This restaurant was recommended from reviews, and it happened to be a 5 min walk down the beach from our place on Costa Azul. It is nestled between the surf school and a couple other lounge/restaurants. It is one of the few restaurants right on the beach close to the water in this area, it seems most others are inside the hotel buildings along the beach. We entered via the beach side (they also have a parking lot) and were greeted by live music- a guitarist playing faves. We sat on the deck (every table has a beach/water view) and were welcomed with a large menu of many choices, from apps to salads, hamburgers, seafood (even BYO catch, they cook), tacos, entrees and ‘Abuela’s recipes’. It’s ‘tourist prices’ but the portions were huge and the food was amazing!! I had the fish tacos and hubby had the tuna burger w steak fries. Best fish tacos I’ve ever had, mainly bc of the quality of the coleslaw, fresh salsa and hots they arrived with. Highly recommend for the views and the portions.

Great location but food is boring and drinks expensive for beach type restaurant

Used to be a good place I agree, but food quality is down right boring and drinks pricey. A rum and coke the same s a cocktail!! We have been coming here 6 years. There is always bit of entertainment so thats nice.. It is the only walk up restaurant on this beach. we had 9 of us (3kids) but had average food for $500 US would recommend having dinner elsewhere. The best thing is the little shop next door so the instructors are there to take you out surfing and that is a good experience.

Very Disappointing – Overcharged and Treated Rudely

Our visit to Zippers Restaurant was incredibly disappointing. We ordered the Tony’s Special Burger and specifically requested the extra onion rings that the menu stated cost an additional 50 pesos. We made this clear twice to the waiter, and he confirmed both times that it would be just 50 pesos extra. However, when the bill came, we were charged 210 pesos for the onion rings. We also asked for no coleslaw to be served with any of our meals (we ordered three), and despite this, coleslaw was served with all of them. On top of that, five minutes after ordering, we asked if one of the chicken burgers could be changed to the Tony’s Special Burger. The waiter said he would check, but never came back to update us. We were ultimately served the chicken burger — which we accepted — but basic communication would have gone a long way. The real issue came when we questioned the bill about the onion rings. The waitress was rude and dismissive, saying there was nothing she could do about the waiter’s mistake. Her exact words were: “I’m not paying it out of my wages.” This raises the question — why should we, as customers, be forced to pay for someone else’s mistake? She continued to argue with us and even accused us of having “no respect.” As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for years, I was shocked. This is not how customers should be treated. Mistakes happen, but we were the ones left to pay for it, both financially and in the way we were spoken to. Completely unacceptable experience and I would not recommend Zippers to anyone looking for decent service and fair treatment.

After reading some complaints about inhospitable servers and mediocre food, we went expecting no more than a nice view and so-so beach bar grub. So it was a pleasant surprise that the servers were all attentive and pleasant, the food was tasty, the tunes from the singer-guitarist were easy on the ear and the drinks were on point and reasonably priced. No, it's not gourmet dining, but it sure got the job done, with a very chill setting as the bonus.

Terrible food!!!

Absolutely terrible food and drinks!!! We ordered fish tacos and margaritas, we couldn't finish both. Actually we stopped after a few first bits. The fish is definitely not fresh and tasted off and and quaca and sides are not made fresh in the house. We were Absolutely disgusted and left. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Never coming back!!!

Chicken bones in food 🥴

There were so many bones in the burrito, thank god I checked before I ate much of it. I was unable to eat it and after telling my server I was not refunded or offered other food options. So I did end up paying for that dish I didn’t eat, which was already over priced. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there are plenty of other gorgeous restaurants right next door to this one. The only good thing about this restaurante is the view, that’s it.

Blah Beach bar and restaurant

Zippers was close to where we are staying, so we wonder down the beach. The food: guacamole was good, the chips were stale. The Baja coconut shrimp were tasty. The fish tacos did not taste very fresh. The service: not very attentive and seemed annoyed to serve us. Bright spot was the gentleman that was playing guitar.

Zipper's obviously has a good location. It is not fine cuisine as to be expected. Over the last year they have raised their prices aggressively. It has become super-expensive for what it is. $11-$13 USD for a basic well drink and $14-$16 for a basic cheeseburger? The price of alcohol has not risen much from their supppliers. Labor, food costs have risen and USD has declined in value but this is getting ridiculous.

I am 15 years old living in Los Cabos and my son started surfing lessons. Because I have a lot of work I decided to stay in this restaurant, take my computer and work from there. However, their menu is not to my liking so I just have a drink or two while I wait for my son. I spend approximately between 150-200 pesos, because I know that I am paying for the service to be there. Yesterday, when entering the parking lot, they asked me to leave, because if I am not going to consume more than 200 pesos I cannot pass. It seemed rude to me, a lack of education, because if I don't eat, it's not because I don't want to, but because their food is very bad. I just wanted to share it, because they are situations that we locals go through very often in our own land.

Watch surfers beachfront bar and restaurant - great views

Zippers Another beautiful day at Zippers – love this place! Located right on the waterfront with perfect views of the surfers and the entire bay. It is now laid out differently after COVID and the tables were spread out very nicely and it looks much more spacious. There is still a place where you can rent surf boards. We were there for lunch and they even had a live musician playing which made it a super fun beach day. We started with beer and wine while we ordered – both super cold just the way we like it. Hubby ordered the fish salad which was huge with lots of fish. I had the ribs and fries on the appetizer menu - I couldn’t finish it and had to take the rest home because it was such a large portion! They were just delicious and the sauce tasted so good – seemed like it had a hint of pineapple in it. There are TV’s in the restaurant and bar so you can watch your favorite game. All in all, a fun cool bar/restaurant to enjoy drinks, a meal with friends or even by yourself to enjoy the surf, music or a game on TV.

Nice spot, bad food

Zippers has an amazing location right on the beach. It is delightful to sit there and enjoy the beach, the jostling crowd, the beach music. There is a little parking lot. But, the food is essentially grilled and fried cardboard. So, go here for a drink, for the location, but not to eat!

Great place to get away from tourist traps and high prices

BRING CASH…..I’ll get to why at the end… Came here with my family to get away from the high priced dinners at the resort and tourist traps in the city. Great atmosphere and great food. You can sit and watch the surfers during the day because the waves are huge. At night they had a guy signing and playing Damn near everything on his guitar. A local (American who lives there) at the table next to us suggest the coconut shrimp, beef dip sandwich and the tostada. My husband ordered two meals the tostada and the burger and I got the chicken basket. I thought that was like tenders but I was wrong. Not their fault, I should have asked. It was fried chicken but like, two thighs a breast and I forget but it was almost a whole deep fried chicken lol. We ended up taking the left overs from that back to the hotel but still good. I ate most of the burger and it was good. Everyone else got what the guy suggested and they all loved their meals. Definitely not a place you can walk to from your hotel. The highway is not pedestrian friendly. Suggest a taxi or renting a car for a day and going here. Parking is nice once you figure it out. There’s a gate so we went past it originally thinking it wasn’t open for everyone to park. But It is lol. So just go up to the gate. As to why I say bring cash. We didn’t see any signs or an ATM but they can’t charge tips to credit cards. Unfortunately for me(or them I guess) I didn’t carry any of my cash that night thinking since it was just dinner it wasn’t needed. So if you would like to tip your servers, all of which were amazing btw, bring some cash for them. I can’t wait to come back and take friends here next time. Oh, with the 3 meals my husband and I got it was around $40-ish dollars. So yes, way cheaper than a meal in town lol.

Average at best. Very slow service for both food and drinks. Food is OK, nothing to write home about. Parking can be a challenge when they are busy. The location is a little hard to find but it has great views of the ocean while you are eating. Zippers is right on the beach.

Lots of food

We walked the beach to Zippers from our condo at El Zalate. It was worth the walk that’s for sure! We ordered the quacamole and chips appetizer, enough for 4 hungry people right there. My wife had the lobster tacos(3), which turned out to be too much food for her. I had the ribeye steak, which says it comes with rice and vegetables, turns out a baked potato, 1/4 cob of corn, and a bun also is included with the meal! Needless to say we couldn’t finish it all. They have live music every night and you can hear the waves crashing too! A must try when you’re in San Jose del Cabo.
