Great view, great service, great view. Toes in the sand on Medano Beach with great view of Land’s End. The staff were so nice. Hostess was very nice and gave us a choice of tables. Our waiter, Hector, was excellent. I live in Cabo in the winter and I’ve been to every restaurant along the beach, some many times. Most of these have lost their charm and become tourist traps with aggressive up-selling, wine switcheroo and “mistakes” on the bill with added items. Hector was great at recommending alternate wine choices within our budget when the menu listed wine was sold out, the pacing of courses was perfect and we never felt rushed even though we had a prime table, and he even tracked me down in the hotel when I had dropped my valet parking ticket in the restaurant. He truly went above and beyond. The food was good. We shared a spicy tuna roll as an appetizer and a pad Thai and Mongolian beef for entrees. All very good. (Only quibble was the rice in the roll was a bit gubby and needs improvement.)

We hit a homerun on our experience at Funky Geisha! Originally, we had reservations at a popular Mexican eatery. However, after reading numerous negative recent reviews, we switched our reservation to Funky Geisha which I had seen walking the beach one morning. The atmosphere is beachy posh - your feet will be in the sand and your soul in the air! Service was pretty decent and the food/drink exceeded our expectations! For the kids, we were quite impressed as they had cookies which they could paint, child-friendly mocktails, etc... We were a bit nervous how the kids experience would be, but it was right up there with ours! They brought out complimentary wontons which were devine! The himachi was so fresh and good, the short rib tacos are a MUST and the chicken curry...forget about it! To top everything off they brought out coconut ice cream for my birthday! From the atmosphere to the service and food, Funky Geisha is Funky Fresh!

16 days in Cabo and this was our best dinner. We originally had reservations for The Office but bailed to come here. We walked in without reservation and they quickly accommodated us. The service was AMAZING! Hector was our server and Alex helped out with our table as well. They both made sure our drinks were always full and they made our kiddos (2y & 4y) feel special as well! Alex regularly checked in on the kids even calling them by name and brought them hibachi “chef’s hats” and cookies to paint with frosting. The beach front atmosphere with the great service and tasty food made this our favorite meal. Hector was very personable and made some great suggestions for wine & sake. He even offered a full family photo shoot at dinner, we couldn’t decline! Best photos with the sunset. Lots of good memories at this dinner :)

Pros: beachfront location, attentive service, cool aesthetic. Cons: bland food, discordant service timing, more club than restaurant. Definitely not accessible for those with mobility issues and may be challenging for those with a stroller. We chose Funky Geisha for our first dinner in Cabo after spending 4 days in La Paz. The menu looked appealing and we all love a beachfront bite. THE VIBE The restaurant is located in a hotel complex(ME by Melia) and a bit of a trek from where you park. After arriving and checking in with the hostess for all of the restaurants , you head down to level 2(there is an elevator) Then there are about 3 stairs, pass by “Mamazzita” (restaurant) and then the pool. The area is dimly lit with candles. You will hear “ Taboo” before you see. We went on Saturday at 7 pm so not a huge surprise that it was buzzing. However this is a hookah/ shisha lounge and there were groups standing on their chairs and over all very raucous. Then, it is down a full flight of stairs to the beach and ”Funky Geisha”. More mellow beach club vibe with lots of plants and soft lighting. Some tables are Japanese-style with pillows on the ground, others are the regular table set-up. We were quickly given pillows to make our seats more comfortable, and they provide a purse/coat stand for your tables. We noticed that some tables had diners who were wearing tank tops, and they were given blankets so they wouldn’t be cold. We were asked multiple times about food allergies. All of the staff was very attentive. The kitchen sent out an amuse bouche , which was a cream cheese and imitation crab wonton that I could not eat, but the rest of my party said was good. The drinks were creative and definitely a very big showpiece for this restaurant. I ordered the Bhakti mocktail which came in a Viking style drinking horn while other tables had different beverages that were presented with a strobe & smoke show. THE FOOD Appetizers: Tom Kha Gai (it was lukewarm and had a fishy taste despite being chicken). Lettuce wraps( which were DIY but decent flavor). Entrees: Penang curry( it had a nice heat and medium flavor). Pad Thai( it was the driest I’ve ever had and only contained carrots but no other vegetables). The curry and Pad Thai were served with the tofu uncooked, ice-cold , unseasoned ,and tossed on top like an after thought. The portion sizes were small but not tiny. Because the atmosphere is nice and service were so attentive. I would definitely recommend. Trying “Funky Geisha” to start your evening with a drink and maybe an appetizer or Coming here for a night-cap after eating elsewhere.

I hate to even write this review because I am a huge fan of the Rosa Negra restaurant group and have loved Funky Geisha before. We came over Christmas (December 23) and couldn't believe the experience that we had. First, the restaurant was moved at this time due to the recent hurricane. I do understand that, but what I don't understand is why there was zero ambience, show or service. We paid over $500 USfor a few cocktails, two sushi rolls and a couple of bowls of rice. We paid over $120 US for three bottles of water. Was this a joke or some type of miscalculation? Also, we noticed after that there was 20% included gratuity that we were not told about. I NEVER hesitate to pay or tip generously if service is even decent....but it was NOT. We were never offered cocktail refills and our order was wrong. There were only two other tables dining that evening when we were there, so this should have been a tip off. Just very disappointed because we also dined at Rosa Negra and it was a hit as always. We will definitely not be back to Funky Geisha again!

We expected to pay a premium for a restaurant in a hotel. With that being said it was ridiculously overpriced. A meal in Los Angeles at a Thai restaurant would be $50.00. Where this place was $220. The chicken lettuce cups came with the smallest amount of chicken I have ever seen served for 4 people which was not enough for all of us to share.Drunken noodles fair and Pad Thai was good but again feel ripped off

Nice place with good music and a very good atmosphere. The food recommended by our waiter Thomas was spot on, exquisite glazed salmon with an apple curry that was the best of the night! There was also a fireworks show and that gave the night a plus! Thank you very much and of course we will return!

If you like TO BE SEEN, this is your spot, otherwise a hard pass. I had some hesitations when a friend recommended we try this place. Since we were staying at the resort, it was hard to say no. I am not really big on hotel establishments, and this one definitely confirms why. Service – Really great service, but I don’t expect anything less. If you are willing to pay the high prices, you’re almost always guaranteed great service. The food and drinks came out in a very timely manner and the staff was very attentive. There was always at least two, sometimes three people serving our table of six. Food – Decent at best. I didn’t have high expectations to begin with, so I guess that’s why I am not extremely crushed at how they presented their version of Asian cuisine. Yes, I know it’s Asian fusion, but I’ve had pretty good Asian fusion food before; it can be done right. This was decent by my standards, but maybe even closer to mediocre. The quality of the food was decent, most of the items ordered were salty, my out-of-the-box cake mix at home tasted better than the complimentary anniversary cake served. Drinks were OK given the cost. For $22, I would except a little less watered down and more alcohol. Ambiance – Definitely a cool vibe if you’re single or just into partying. It was a little too loud for my taste. We were there for two hours and there were some dancers that came out to do fire dancing. It was entertaining, but I could’ve done without. They are big on lighting up sparklers, and it doesn’t even have to be your bday. If you order an expensive drink, know a sparkler will be lit up and you’re going to get their full attention. Overall – Hard pass. Not really my vibe and for what we spent, I expected MUCH more. We paid $100 PP and not everyone had a drink (two cocktails and one beer). Afterwards we went upstairs and ordered real food.

This place has a very upbeat vibe. The service is fantastic. Our waiter , Hector, remembers us and knows the wines we like and brings our spicy “Mexican ketsup “ every time. The food is tasty and unique. Sitting in the sand and enjoying cabo is such a privilege! Happy to return here time and time again.

Someone posted that this was not Japanese and was more of an Indian/Middle Eastern cuisine. While it has Indian influences, there are many Japanese dishes on the menu. This is an Asian "fusion" style restaurant. Keep in mind, India and the Middle East are broadly considered part of Asia. The experience was unique and lovely. It's an adult-centered restaurant and not suitable for children. The demographic is young and trendy/stylish. The entire dining experience takes place on the beach and the majority of the tables are situated right on the sand. Ladies, consider your footwear! I wore flats, but ended up slipping them off my feet at the table. That is not to say you should show up in beachwear and flip-flops if you're going for dinner. They call it "formal casual" attire. I would just call it trendy. The service was impeccable and our food came out quickly. They take everything into consideration. I ordered a beer and they brought out a little ice chiller to put the beer bottle in so it didn't get warm. I ordered the oyster glazed salmon as my main course and my husband ordered the Nigerian shrimp. The salmon was excellent! Perfectly cooked and the apple curry accompaniment was fresh and light. My husband's shrimp had good flavor, but the shrimp itself had a tough and chewy texture. More like lobster. We also ordered a variety of sushi rolls, which were all tasty. Around 9PM they have Taiko drummers come out to perform, which was a lot of fun. It was more theatrical than authentic Taiko, but still great. I'm not usually big on dining experiences that are more for show, but this was unique and enjoyable. I wouldn't go twice, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out once. Our bill was about $260 for the two entrees, 2 beers each, 2 different sushi rolls, and two orders of regular sushi.

Nice, scenic atmosphere, but too loud. Maybe it was just the kids that were allowed to run around the restaurant unchecked by the people sitting behind us. Drinks were pretty special. Food was not. We ordered the drunken noodles dish and, while it was pretty flavorful, it was way too saucy! They could have used half to a third of the sauce and it would have been much better. My son said the curry chicken dish was very good. My big takeaway is that it is VERY overpriced! VERY expensive for not very large portions. We ordered two drinks, an order of spring rolls, two drunken noodle dishes (one shrimp and one tofu) and one chicken curry dish and the bill was $185.00 plus tip. I don’t have an issue spending money on a special meal. This wasn’t it…

This was my fifth time having dinner here and my first this year and although the service was great and the food was tasty the drink prices and overall cost has gone up way too high. I paid 380 pesos for a cocktail that consisted of a cup of shaved ice and about 2 oz of liquid. Frustrating. The other cocktails and drinks were similarly priced. It’s too bad as their rolls are good, although not inexpensive at 550 pesos a roll, and their service fun. One of my previous favorites in Cabo but drinks and overall value push it off of our go to list.

Dinning at Funky Geisha was an amazing experience. Starting with the service, Denilson and Ricardo were friendly, impressively knowledgeable about the menu and the nuances of each plate and had special attention to detail. Throughout the dinner they checked in and made sure we had a great time. Denilson’s recommendations were spot on and the food was delicious. Secondly, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It is set on the beach (you will be walking on sand) and the ambience made for an intimate evening. Lastly, we were celebrating 2 events that night and the restaurant staff went out of their way to make sure we had a memorable evening. We had the truffle rice, NY steak with Miso sauce, Salmon with a sweet curry, their almond dessert and chocolate cake. Everything was amazing.
