I called in from my way home from registering my vote on the referendum (the polling station is situated about a third of a mile away so consequently, I was rather exhausted ( Which I made out to the Mrs was incredibly busy to buy me a bit of time on the way home )) The place was packed.... ...On... Unpretentious village pub. Great good in an unspoilt English pub. We love to go there and dogs are welcome too. Nice garden backing on to the river soar.

Although we didn't eat here what we saw of the food suggested excellence. We called in for a pint and we're amazed at the selection of real local ales actually on tap! The arrangement of barrels as you enter the pub is reminiscent of days gone by. The bar a charming reminder of how bars used to be. Wonderful greeting... More

Tasty, aromatic and delicious hint of South East Asia in set-price meal format. Spicey starters were spot on! Mains were also delicious and perfectly in line with Cambodian food - if a little mean on quantity. Unfortunately mango rarely travels well enough to recreate the true taste so the dessert was just OK. Excellent and cheerful service in a warm... More

My partner and I have eaten here a couple of times and wanted to go somewhere for Sunday lunch that we knew would be good - we weren't disappointed! We both had roast lamb which was delicious and served with a lovely selection of veggies. We both had pudding too and left like happy little Oompah Loompahs! I highly recommend... More

My partner and I have eaten here a number of times since moving to the village a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. We've had evening meals, lunches and Sunday lunch and each has been delicious and great value for money. It's all a lovely place to just Coke for a drink with a great atmosphere and... More

Unspoilt 17th. Century pub next to the River Soar. Serves a range of real ales. So a good meeting place if visiting the unlicensed Spice Cube restaurant across the road. Interesting looking menu, will try out sometime soon.

If you are looking for good food at reasonable prices, this isn't it, and you have to use cash unless you spend over 8 pounds. Fine if you have plenty of money, but not a place to visit for good food if you are on a budget. If you are going to pay these prices then try the Curzon in... More
