Great food presentation. Delicious tastes! Excellent staff. Great location. Lovrly atmosphere. Pricey--and worth it!

The location and ambience is very nice and the extensive menu makes your mouth water. The staff may be overwhelmed at times so service can be quite slow.

This beautiful restaurant is very near centro, The restaurant contains several dining areas one of them has a retractable roof to deal with changing sun and or rain. The restaurant is in an old colonial building, but feels modern . The colors are muted greens....More

We wanted to try the many restaurants that get great reviews in this lovely town, but I wish we had eaten at The Restaurant every night! There were five of us for dinner and every dish that every person ordered was fresh, delicious and beautifully...More

Yes. Eating is then main objective in a restaurant, but in San Miguel De Allende people are looking for an "experience" and the one got in The Restaurant was SLOW. The food is decent (nothing spectacular) and the service is extremely slow, although the people...More

I generally write only about outstanding places. This, though, is not one. San Miguel restaurant options are quite impressive, for this small town - which attracts a lot of visitors who apparently like good food. The decor is nice as is the wait staff. Nice...More

In a city so rich in history and cuisine, we found The Restaurant a little disappointing. The food and service were fine, as you'd expect at a high-end restaurant. However, we'd just had a great dinner the night before a few blocks away and ordered...More

I think it is among the most consistent meals in SMA. I really like the appetizers. Highly recommend the tuna, Brussels sprout salad and marshmellow sundae. Beware that Thursday is burger night. Don't love the burgers, and they don't have entrees on Thursday.

Our small fox terrier "Ika" will be with us, as always. We are staying at the Rosewood where Ika is most welcome. Can Ika join the four of us during our meal at The Restaurant?

Definitely not.
Why is there a 15 or 16% tax (I forgot exactly) on the bill? It is not tip because there is a separate line to fill in the tip. I didn't think about it until I dine at other restaurants and none of them charges tax.

Most restaurants include this tax in their prices...so you don't see it. It's up to them to pay it. The Restaurant puts this price on top of their prices, so you see this value added tax (IVA).

THE RESTAURANT, housed in one of San Miguel’s most elegantly colonial settings at Sollano 16, opened in February 2008 featuring Chef Donnie Masterton’s world class cuisine. It is located just steps away from the main square of San Miguel de Allende, the prettiest and most restored/written-about Colonial city in all of Mexico. Offering a full bar, it serves lunch and dinner five days a week in a sun-dappled eighteen century Moroccan courtyard, as well as in their elegant dining salon.Serving global comfort good, THE RESTAURANT’s menu reflects the changing seasons with a focus on the simplicity of fine ingredients. The Chef collaborates with local organic growers, dairy farmers and ranchers to procure the freshest, highest quality and responsibly raised product available. Catering to today’s more experienced, adventurous and health conscious diners, The Restaurant will emphasize quality in food and customer service…as well as a more involved relationship with respect to our food and the land it comes from.
