This place boosts of being the best fish tacos in the world. We just had to check this out. They were the best fish tacos that we've ever had. The chicken tacos were okay but the fish tacos were the bomb! We happened to be there when there was a DJ spinning w a trumpet player up on the sunset... More

Hands down...best tacos I've ever had in my life. Adorable restaurant with yummy drinks...I recommend the CocoLoco because A) It's delicious and B) it's ridiculously fun to drink out of a coconut:) When a restaurant boasts that they have the "best" something, you really need to try that dish. My husband had the fish tacos and loved them! I had... More

The fajitas were amazing, and the service was good. The seating area was decorated wonderfully. There is a bar that has craft beer, which didn't appear to be open while we were there, but was intriguing.

I stopped in to try the fish tacos, which were pretty good. The staff here is service-minded and the happy hour drinks at two-for-one are appealing. I enjoyed the atmosphere, which is very much a sports bar vibe. It’s a great place to watch U.S. sporting events. They often have live music that contributes to the atmosphere and Mateo’s location... They boast the best fish tacos in the world, and I may be inclined to agree with them. We were in Tulum for 5 days and had lunch here twice, ordering the Baja Style Fish Tacos both times. Combined with the Salsa Secreto, they were pretty unbelievable. Definitely the best fish tacos I've ever had.

Dinner was a disappointment. We waited more than an hour for an underwhelming dinner. It felt like a generic Mexican restaurant in the US. Then we waited an additional 40 min for the check. I would skip.

On our way back from Tulum, we decided to stop in Punta Allen for lunch. So glad we did as Mateo's offered me the best birthday lunch I could've asked for. The restaurant itself had a really cool staff who were friendly, talkative and funny.. The vibe was just to my liking.. reggae music, super chill with really cool paintings... More

My wife and I ate one dinner at Mateos during our stay. I had coconut shrimp that were delicious. They come with a small portion of rice, beans and salad. I had a local IPA (I think Akumal) that was very good (for Mexican beer). My wife ate fish ceviche that was ok, but nothing special, probably would not order... More
