A good place for lunch with super cool garden decor. It took off the afternoon heat from us almost immediately. My husband and I were glad that food was served quickly. The enchiladas and fish tacos we had were super tasty and I wish I...More

My husband and I had lunch at El Jarden. Both of us ordered their lunch special; I had fish tacos, and my husband had vegetarian fajitas. Only 95 pesos, and came with soup and lemonade. Very good deal.

The El Jardin is great if you want somewhere where you can taste authentic Mexican food , freshly cooked on the gas burners which you can see from your table. As a party of six we tried a variety of items from the menu and...More

6 of us ate here on a Friday evening when they happen to have a Cabernet of live singing and performances. It is situated in a ‘secret garden’ under the trees. An intimate venue with the equivalent of Mexican ‘street food’ being cooked by locals. Really...More

This place is really nice for a night out, so quiet in the middle of the craziness of Playa, however, the menu is so poor, there are like 4 options and the portions are ridiculously small. I will say its good for a quiet night...More

Dear Alejandra, We're glad you enjoyed the atmosphere of El Jardin at night. The only evening we are open is the Friday evening when we present our show. The weekend we are closed. Friday evening we present a smaller menu with 3 or 4 different...More

The food was great and the atmosphere is fantastic! If you’re lucky they’ll have their dog gypsy around who is super sweet and will chill at your feet. This place is definitely worth checking out!

A lovely place off the strip -- the garden setting is cool and relaxing., the hosts are almost always on site and happy to chat. They offer Mexican breakfasts and lots of traditional Yucatecan dishes, our favorite of which is the tikin xic (fish coated...More

One of our favorite places in Playa del Carmen. A lovely garden, with hidden discoveries in every corner. Excellent food, which is very fresh. The kitchen is open, and we watched a chef make our tortillas. Many delicious seafood dishes, as well as pork, and...More

We're sorry your eating experience was disappointing. A daily menu is always simple and not very special, as for the economic price. Indeed, rice, a small salad and meat or fish. We're glad your chicken was not that bad, at least. The fish, I had...More

thanks to Trip Advisor for finding this away from busy 5th Avenue restaurant. Just a block or so off Constitution Avenue, this small place is just what we were looking for. Its like going into a backyard garden with several tables spread around a great...More

El Jardin is a centrally located tropical garden, serving breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday. The place is a lush oasis and quiet sanctuary with trickling waterfalls, calming music and abundant bird sounds, tucked away between the busy streets and shopping malls of downtown Playa del Carmen. All ingredients are fresh, local and organic when posible. The kitchen is Mexican-Yucatecan with a European twist of the Czech owner, hence; Comida YucaCheca. Every Friday night El Jardin presents Noche de Divas. The owner Paula Liebe and a group of fellow performers sing a selection of Opera, Boleros, Chanson and Jazz. At the back of El Jardin you can find a large house which is rented out a vacation rental, by the day. It’s called ‘Funky House in downtown Playa’.
