Everyone I spoke to locally mentioned this tiny hidden gem.... The staff didn't speak much english but still managed to be super helpful. The best Mexican food we had during our stay in playa for sure. So affordable too! You must go when visiting playa.

Everyone we spoke to for recommendations told us to go to this place. On the evening we went it was incredibly busy and people were lining up to come in. This place is not fancy at all. More like a cafe. It is incredibly hot as there is an open grill right next to the tables. We were next to... More

Took a taxi from my hotel to this place specifically as I heard so many great things about it. Yes the tacos are delicious. The torta, not so much though. Probably can find something comparable closer though. Great service and cheap prices!

We have being twice at Playa del Carmen and we allways have to come back to el Fogon for the tacos al pastor and carne asada. This is a must if your are staying at Playa del Carmen.

If you're a taco lover this place is a great place for simple food at great prices. We sampled a variety of things and never thought one item lacked flavor or quality. My only tip is to sit away from the kitchen area as it gets pretty hot there.

YUMM. I found out about this on here. It's a bit off 5th but SOOO worth the painful walk in the hot afternoon sun. Ordered the quesadilla and the BF for the egg/beef stir fry like dish fajita. I couldn't read 85% of the menu so I apologize. The quesadilla was pretty good. The cheese was a bit overcooked and... More

We were recommended this place by a tour guide as an original Mexican place away from the touristic zone (but still within walking distance) and we loved it. Portions are big and food was delicious!

Always go to this place as it is just down the street from my condo. The most amazing food! service is amazing. drinks are excellent. prices are so affordable to any budget. not far from the touristy 5th ave, well worth the cab fair or the short walk. I eat here at least every second day when we're her...

Service is USUALLY fast. Food is always very good. We go here at least twice per month for lunch. Minimum language barrier. Easy and good place on a 1 hour lunch break
