Visited this restaurant recently and, wow, what excellent food. Was a bit unsure on arrival, it's not really the destination for a romantic dinner for 2, and the signs are a bit confusing as it has 3 or 4 words in Spanish before it says el fogon so wasn't sure we were in the right place. The staff were really... More

This has to be the most overrated restaurant in Playa. Just because it is cheap does not mean it's amazing which seems to be the reason many reviewers are raving about it. Most places in Mexico are pretty cheap. The food was just okay, nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the out of the way walk to... More

Went to El Fogon and there was barely a seat in the place. All the other taquerias were almost empty. The food was great, some of the best chorizo and pico I have ever tasted. Prices were ridiculous. 2 dinners with apps, 4 beers and the total with a big tip was $ 25

Very crowded at night. Waited 10-15 minutes to be seated. Ordered the pastor tacos , they were decent. If on a budget good price for food.

Awesome food at dirt cheap prices! I had quesadillas bistec and fresh guacamole, such amazing guacamole!!! My husband had a pastor torta. Word of advice: if you are not a fan of onions don't order the pastor here. Equal parts onion to meat. He ended up sharing my quesadillas which is fine because the portions are huge!!! Would have gone... More

I go there on every visit! Love the folks, not much English but we always work it out. It's super cheap and the best mexican food you can have when your on the go. Plates are really big, and the staff is very enjoyable. Get a few shots of tequila and we are off again with a full belly !... More

While in Playa Del Carmen I asked a cab driver for his favourite place to eat, he didn't even think about it but right away said "El Fogon" now...when you're traveling you may want to go to the best spots you see online and/or what you've heard about and there's nothing wrong with that; however, if you are on vacation... I wanted to give this place 4 stars because they have only menus in spanish and the waiter was not the best, but I simply can't. Me and my boyfriend have been in various places in Mexico for the past 2 weeks and this was hands down the best meal we have had here! So tasty, so good, such good... More
