It is one more restaurant for tourists, so the food is not superb, just decent. It is cheaper that other similar places on quinta Avenida, but it is pricey compared to good Mexican restaurants in Playa. It is accessible from quinta Avenida and 10th ave. Is not the ideal place for children, it looks and feels a little bit like... More

DON'T EAT THERE!!! We went to La Barbacoa for our New Year's Dinner and were very disappointed. The table next to us left as soon as the waiter brought the food and the other two tables next to us complaint. $700 for this kind of food is a rip off. In my opinion this is disgraceful.

It was attached to our hotel, so I went there often for a quick snack or drink. Everything I ate was amazing and super cheap. All of the servers were really nice and quick. Definitely not a fancy restaurant, but a good place to stop and have reliably good food.

We stayed at La Pasion on 20th and stopped into La Barbacoa on 10th Ave and Calle 10, we decided to sit inside because it was hot outside. The waiter was an older gentleman and extremely friendly and obviously experienced. He recommended the beef consume (soup) and we could not stop raving about how good it was all the time... More

Quick summery: food is good, service fine, ambiance is horrible. We popped into La Barbacoa after wandering 5th Ave for the evening. We ordered drinks. My margarita tasted like it was made with the margarita mix at average American mexican restaurants (most margaritas in PDC are so fresh, not a mix). I did not like at all. I ordered a... More

I ordered the 250g sirloin steak medium rare. What I got was a 3mm thick minute steak, heavily salted. It was yuck. The waiter asked if I wanted guacamole and tortillas, I was charged $45 pesos for them, everywhere else in Mexico this is complimentary. To add insult to injury, 15% tip added to the bill. Management at this dive... More

Came to La Barbacoa with 4 people. The waiter started taking our beverage order and when I informed him we wanted split bills he got upset and stormed off before saying we should have informed him BEFORE he took our 4 beverage orders. All he had done was write 4 beverages on a notepad! He came back and said we... More

We stayed overnight in Playa del Carmen for one night from our Cozumel visit and had breakfast. We enjoyed it immensely and felt quite pampered with the service. We would visit again.
