Stayed in playa del carmen in august this year, each time we came into the town we stopped here for a drink, loved the swings at the bar though i can imagine they become more difficult to sit on after a few more beers! The servers were excellent and their English was great.

We sat in this old fashioned bar last year enjoying a margarita. A photographer asked if we'd mind our photo being taken for the bar- we agreed- 15 mins later a bottle of Tequilla arrived with our photo on. It would have been rude to refuse- it was our anniversary after all- Most expensive little bottle of tequila we own!!.... More

Nice bar with a cook feeling. They have swings at the bat instead of chairs so that's pretty cool too! Good food and reasonably priced. It was a good first impression of Playa Del Carmen.

The place is a lot of fun, we stopped by for one drink and ended up staying for more. The bar has swings that you can sit and talk to other people also visiting the area. There is WiFi and thats always a plus in my book. Ask for the margaritas they are delicious.

I "parked" myself at the Pez Vela a couple times while my wife continued shopping along 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen (my concentration span with shopping is about 30 mintues). I sat out the front on the corner of the bar area and watched people shopping and trading, this spot has a view across the intersection and down toward... More

My friends and I were looking for a restaurant that had seafood since we were by the beach. We walked around la 5ta avenida (also known as 5th ave) and someone recommended el Pez Vela. The food was exquisite. The staff was very professional and attentive. We were all very pleased. I loved the openness of the restaurant and how... More

Noticed this place had swings at the bar so popped in for a drink just because of that really. We both had cocktails and they were made quickly and tasted beautiful. Waiter was polite and talkative with us, no problems with bad service at all. We were happy with the price paid and do not feel we were overcharged but... More

Our group passed this place first thing upon arriving in Playa. The waiter (guy with braces) told us "free guacamole!", so we decided to go back after walking 5th Ave a bit. Upon seating us, he acted clueless when we said we wanted to take him up on the free guac and proceeded to say it was another waiter who... More

Pez Vela has been on Avedida 5 for over 20 years. It started mostly as a bar and the city grew around it. It has a great location near the ferry. I have visited it for years. I stopped by on my last visit for a little nostalgia. I got to say their enchiladas verdes are really good as well... More

The best pit stop when walking from one end of 5th avenue to the other. Sit at the bar on the swings! Best Beergarita ever! Food was lovely, freshly cooked, nachos and quesadillas.
