My friends and I were looking for a restaurant that had seafood since we were by the beach. We walked around la 5ta avenida (also known as 5th ave) and someone recommended el Pez Vela. The food was exquisite. The staff was very professional and attentive. We were all very pleased. I loved the openness of the restaurant and how... More

Noticed this place had swings at the bar so popped in for a drink just because of that really. We both had cocktails and they were made quickly and tasted beautiful. Waiter was polite and talkative with us, no problems with bad service at all. We were happy with the price paid and do not feel we were overcharged but... More

Our group passed this place first thing upon arriving in Playa. The waiter (guy with braces) told us "free guacamole!", so we decided to go back after walking 5th Ave a bit. Upon seating us, he acted clueless when we said we wanted to take him up on the free guac and proceeded to say it was another waiter who... More

Pez Vela has been on Avedida 5 for over 20 years. It started mostly as a bar and the city grew around it. It has a great location near the ferry. I have visited it for years. I stopped by on my last visit for a little nostalgia. I got to say their enchiladas verdes are really good as well... More

The best pit stop when walking from one end of 5th avenue to the other. Sit at the bar on the swings! Best Beergarita ever! Food was lovely, freshly cooked, nachos and quesadillas.

Great local, but that's pretty much all that's great about it. The tablecloths were dirty, like not changed between patrons. The food was fine, but not anything special or anything to rave about. But! The waiters were horrid! The style is what you see all up and down 5th, so, I guess you can't expect anything else. They count on... More

food was nothing special, but the waiters were rude. i ordered soy milk and they talked to me in a not very nice way, like it was a weird order. then, they brought me an expired milk. i asked if they could change it and they told me "of course it's wasted, no one order that kind of things here!".... The atmosphere was great, everyone was talking and swinging. The steak was even better than the expensive restaurant we'd tried from across the street before. Price, drinks, and food were great would 100% recommend. They even brought us a bottle of tequila with our pic on it, great souvenir!

I visited nearly a year and a half ago and had a fairly decent breakfast and thwarted an attempted ripoff by the waiter. This time I was staying with a Mexican friend at a hotel nearby so we gave it another try. Again, I have no complaints about the food. The waiters stand on Quinta and heckle passersby to try... The service here was okay and the food was the same. Nothing special, just average and kind of bland tasting. What I liked the least was the act of taking your picture with your spouse and saying it was for their picture board or whatever. The manager later comes over with your photo pasted on a small bottle of tequila... More
