There is a reason locals flock here on weekends. Great great food comparable to Rick Bayless place in Chicago.

We ate the typical chicken dish wrapped in banana leaves and the cochinita pibil- both were absolutely tender and delicious! My kids loved it (under 4 years old) and the tortilleras even let my little girl have a go at making a tortilla, such a great night!

We went their with some friends during a trip to Merida, hoping to find something typical to eat and we were not disappointed. The dishes are really good and typical, the're also quite big and not so expensive. A truly good place to eat Mexican typical food.

The service was super good as well as dessert ( some kind of a custard). Prices are reasonable. Yet the food is not spectacular (at least what we've ordered): beef fillet with banana purée (was medium rare despite we asked for medium well). Guacamole was tasty. As well as the drink (pina collada variation). The ambiance is quite simplistic, lacks... More

My wife and I ate lunch here and enjoyed empanadas and paunchos. Each dish was authentic and well seasoned. We ate in the large courtyard with an occasional table of ex-pats and tourists but by and large this is a go to place for locals who want reasonable and authentic Yucatecan food.

slow service but interesting food Bohemia beer was ice cold, was not overly excited about either chips or salsa the Lime soup was fairly good as was the Pava the Neopolitano (flan) dessert was monstrous in size and again, decent hard to believe this is the best place in Merida?

Folk ambiance with excellent typical flavors. La Chaya Maya was an excellent option for dinner. The patio was esplendid and charming, and the food an incredible trip into the food of Yucatan. I highly recommend it. The prices were fair.

If you are looking to experience a unique yucatecan food this place is a no brainer. This place has it all, from panuchos, sopa de lima, cochinita, papatzules, etc etc etc... Great for breakfast or lunch
