art of food is celebrated here

The art of food is celebrated here. We had so many interesting courses, each conceptualized by the chef dramatically. It's fine dining, almost to the heights of culinary prowess as in Mexico City's fine dining restaurants or the high end Tijuana fine dining restaurants.

This restaurant should be ranked #1 in Merida. I think it's not because most people don't venture too far away from the old square or popular pasejo de monteo areas. Nectar is reachable by cab and they will call you one back to your hotel too. The food was unbelievably good and refined. This next sentence is not meant to... More

We had heard that the two best restaurants in Merida are Ku'uk and Nectar, and while we only had the chance to try Nectar, we were not disappointed. Not the most convenient location depending on where you are staying in Merida, but worth the taxi ride (there is a cool bar next door for drinks called Almibar). The service was... More

More that worth the cab ride from centro - just doo it. The food felt like a cross between the subtle and precise nuances of Japanese combined with traditional Yucatan fare. Great service phenomenal flavor combinations. They could use cloth napkins... We will be back next year.

I stopped going to Nectar years ago, and had not tried it again for many years after their "move" to their current location. The food had been good, but I got tired of it as the menu didn't change and the place was not so nice. I finally broke down and have been back three times both for lunch and... More

Six of us went for dinner at Nectar. It was virtually empty when we arrived a bit after 8 pm but by the time we left the restaurant was packed! Dinner was very, very good. Preparations were unusual and beautifully presented. The one dish that was a must for our group were some black (or blackened) onions - they were... More

I think probably Nectar and Kuul are the only two restaurants in Merida that merit international attention from the gastronomy/michelin crowd. Considering this restaurant is IN Merida, Mexico, and not San Sebastian, Barcelona, New York or San Francisco makes it a must. I went for here for new years- picking it over Apolala and I wasn't disappointed. Even adjusting for... More

We went with a large group and booked in advance. The food and the experience were excellent - the dishes are traditional Mexican food with an unexpected and contemporary twist. Great flavours. The service however was very poor. We had to ask waiters several times for water, they kept forgetting and in some cases never brought it! They got our... More
