This is not a "hidden gem" as some present it to be. The place is popular with the locals. The tacos were really good. We also ordered turkey soup, which was delicious. A solid good place for lunch with extensive menu. Everything we ordered was...really well made. Inexpensive. Thumbs up!More

Local food at economic prices. Satisfying food, fast service, fun atmosphere, I went here twice. The chaya is excellent & the tortas are on some of the best sandwich bread I've ever had!

This place is very popular on You Tube and is famous in Merida. Maybe I was expecting too much. I had tacos and salbuts, they were okay but just average. The tortillas didn’t hold together very well.

Famous from being on You Tube, this food stall gets most of the business in this little area with several food places. It is delicious and cheap. Clean with good service. We thought it would feel like a tourist trap but it didn't. Would recommend!

Local or tourist, you'll get a great breakfast/lunch here. Always very busy, but quick turn around of tables because the locals are on a shopping mission. Everything clean and tidy. Sometimes an order of 2 things will come on one plate. It seems that the...done thing is to order a dish at a time, share it, then order the next. Repeat 'till replete. Enjoy!More

We went here based on Tripadvisor reviews, and it was even better than I expected. 3 of us all tried the Relleno Negro (turkey with a smokey black sauce), Lechon (roast pork with a little crackling on top0 and Cochinita Pibil (traditional Yucatecan pork in...achiote and bitter orange). They were all outstanding! The hotel folks told us that on Sunday, lots of people either eat cochinita or buy their cochinta at La Lupita, because it's so good and we concur. We also had 3 aqua fresco's and they were really tasty and refreshing - no cerveza here, it's a family place and only does breakfast and lunch, but it was wonderful, and very, very reasonable as others have said. Well worth the effort to get there.More

Go where the locals go - here. Always crowded and known for their lechon. The pork is moist and sitting in it's own juice and fat. They also have grilled turkey, turkey in negro sauce, breaded steak and metro Relleño soup. This is located inside...the market. There are many places selling the exact same thing but this place was the most crowded and busy. The food was incredible and the prices were the lowest we've paid during our stay in Merida. I recommend the lechon de horno. It's the roasted juicy moist pork topped with a crunchy pork rind. The combination is music in the mouth. Get it on a taco, torta, tamale or salbute (soft puffy fried corn shell) PROS: Lechon Prices Salbute Eating with localsMore

We had 14 tacos, a bowl of beans, and a Coke for the kid for $11. Let that sink in. $11 USD! I honestly don't understand why we'll eat anywhere else over the next 12 days of our trip. Sure, it's an amazing value ($11...!)...but SO flavorful as well. Here's an itemized breakdown of the tacos we had...ahem: 8 Tacos de Pavo (Turkey tacos with fresh tomato and cucumber) 4 Tacos de Carne Asada 2 Tacos de Relleno Negro (Tacos with turkey, ground pork, hard boiled egg, and a crushed chili paste that makes it all black...it looks funky but tastes amazing. Give it a shot!)More

We have both eaten in and taken food to go from this great, affordable spot on the Mercado Santiago. Their cochinita is some of the best we have tried in our month in Mexico. Their salsa is loaded with flavor and heat. Try the panuchos...with the cochinita. You will not be disappointed.More

For start, the Mercado Santiago is the cleanest market I have ever visit not only in Mexico and that includes Barcelona, Madrid, London, Istambul and Paris. If you want to try something different of the Yucatan cuisine, start the day with a torta de lechón....It is out of this world. The same with the tacos de lechón. My mouth is watering just of writing about it.More

We enjoyed coming here for brunch before a trip to tour Uxmal. I had two types of shrimp tacos and fresh orange juice. Homemade corn tortillas (as always in Yucatan). Quick, inexpensive and delicious.

My kind of place. Really good food at really good prices. No frills, modest eating area, your food is assembled right in front of you. We ate on stools at the counter. The lechon was so juicy and flavorful and the skin was like crunchy...meat candy. Great place to pop in and grab a quick snack or sit down and eat something more substantial. Located in the mercado.More

I went there for a small lunch! I ordered the tortilla with cochinita phil, salbutes with carne asada and panucho with cochinita pibil and it was all the best I've ever had (especially cochinita pibil!) With a coke it was only 54 pesos so also...very very cheap! Def recommend!More
