Had some normal seafood here, but it was nothing special. I would not categorize this as one of the top 10 restaurants in Mérida.

La Pigua is a go to restaurant. The food is amazing, the decor and ambiance are very nice, the service is amazing, and they have a nice wine selection. My favorite dish were these huge shrimp ( more like a small lobster) in a delicious garlic sauce, it is bliss.

We went for dinner on a Sat. night and were promply seated with pleasing smiles from everyone on the staff we encountered. We ordered two mineral waters to have while reading the rather lengthy menu, serverd ice cold and with pleanty of ice in the glass. After reviewing the menu we asked for the wine list and choose a Sauvigon... More

Went to La Pigua in Mérida and in Campeche--couldn't get enough of the fresh shrimp. Had shrimp with mango in Mérida but not on the menu in Campeche. Everything was delicious and fresh, from appetizer to dessert.

La pigua is a very nice and simple restaurant with delicious food, the seafood salad is outstanding, the piguas and octopus is a must and the coconut cake is the best way to end a great meal. The service is very good and very friendly.

Go else where for food, the Seafood cocktail sauce was tasteless and could only taste tomato ketchup- why? The fish soup we tried had a better flavour but fairly pathetic on the whole. Don't waste your money until things improve. The whole experience was ruined by the incredibly rude service, as the waiters are overly pushy with recommendations, hovering around... More

Took advantage of Merida's Restaurant Week and had La Pigua's 99 peso three-course meal. Two choices. I had lovely coriander squash soup my husband had seafood soup. Both excellent. He had tortilla filled dish in tomato sauce. I had sqash blossoms stuffed with shark - spicy and delicious. Dessert was light mango and coconut gelatin squares. Reasonably priced wine by... More

Following the great reviews we expected a pleasant dining experience. What a complete disappointment and waste of money. From the rush to get us seated, and having the waiter circling around the table, impatiently waiting to take the food orders, there was no attempt at any accommodation, never mind a smile. The seafood salad was good, but the fish filet... More

This restaurant is a little out of the centre so take a cab. There is a huge building site opposite but do not be put off. The food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. We had octopus and squid starters which were very large and delicious followed by grilled fish. I had the red snapper which was lightly grilled with... More
