Los Otates is not much to look at - an open air taqueria, but nice staff, inexpensive, and uber casual. Two of us had tacos el pastor and carne asada tacos with a side of frijoles, freshly prepared guacamole and pico de gallo, margaritas and beers, and left satisfied and with change in our pockets. A good spot if you... More

I have to agree- food is just OK. I don't get the hype. Food is cheap and average. We have been vacationing in Cozumel for 5 years and much better options on the island. I had the taco with pineapple and expected to be wowed. I was not and unfortunately it is a one and done for us.

The advantage of living here is that we can eat here as much as we want. Food is excellent and service is great. We love the gringas... flour tortilla with pastor, cilantro and pineapple. The best.. we highly recommend this place.

We were recommended this place by one of my favorite bars and we're not disappointed. They don't speak English and it's hot because it's an open restaurant but the food is excellent if you are looking for true authenticity. I would highly recommend.

I was disappointed after reading all the reviews here. Yes, it's a cheap eat but the food is just average. I had the chicken quesadilla and my husband had the gringas. The food was not bad but it wasn't great either. It was just something to eat.

Came here on a very sleepy Easter Sunday afternoon when much else in the town was closed. Thankfully, Los Otates was open. It is on an unassuming side street and doesn't look like anything special, but the food is delicious! Unfortunately they only had a couple kinds of meat left when we got there in the late afternoon, but the... More

This is my favorite place for a quick snack, or a delicious dinner in Cozumel when looking for tacos and other traditional Mexican dishes. Every taco I have tried has been outstanding, and dinner for two with some beers runs you about $20 USD if you are really splurging.

So I came here for cheap eats in early April 2017! I had the cheese fondue w spicy sausage, skirt steak taco and beef tacos. The food wasn't that memorable but it wasn't bad; just ok. Def hit the spot but I feel there are better, TASTIER eats to be found elsewhere.
