We had a very fun evening at this restaurant. The food was solid, and there were giant margaritas that my husband seemed to enjoy, but also a good wine selection. There wasn't one particular stand out dish that we had - the steak filet was well prepared and mole was good but not to die for. Bring a few extra... More

We have two words for this place - tortilla soup! We have been traveling to Cancun for decades and El Mortero is always one of our stops. It's an old time restaurant - been there for decades. It's located in the middle of a shopping area and right next door to a night club. But the food is good, the... More

It was fine, but it seemed like more of the American's idea of what a Mexican restaurant should be. The food was pretty good, my girlfriend's food wasn't warm enough. Tequila selection was fine, but pricey even by American standards.

We went here on the second night of our vacation and the food, service and selection of "Tequila's" were all awesome. The "Mariachi group" was incredible and the theme of the restaurant was old Spanish decor . We would definitely dine here again.

Had heard of this restaurant and had walked by on previous visits. This time we had a group of 10 people, the food was really good and they didn't have the Victoria beer we wanted, so they must have gone to a mini-super next door and got them for us! The guacamole was great! Prices were reasonable ~25-30 USD per... More

Food was very good, large menu that the waiter knew well. He even offered suggestions when our party was conflicted between two dishes. The margaritas were HUGE and the atmosphere was fun with live mariachi music

It was great to find Mexican food in Mexican tourist zone! The Mariachi band was great as was the decor and service. It was a quiet place for adults - as opposed to all the places that cater to college kids.
