In an unpretentious way, Los Chapulines, located just 100 metres from the St. Guadalupe church in San Cristobal, a few blocks removed from the busy part of Real Guadalupe, offers a delightful array of freshly cooked dishes. I was attracted by pics of Tlayuda, a folded over wrap containing freshly BBQ'd meat and local cheeses. Served crisp and hot with an array of spicy condiments, costing 85 pesos. More than sufficient for even a normal sized adult. Cold beer went well with it. One of my best and filling meals on this trip.,
Tlayuda, sometimes spelled clayuda, is a handmade dish in traditional Oaxacan cuisine, consisting of a large, thin, crunchy, partially fried or toasted tortilla covered with a spread of refried beans, asiento, lettuce or cabbage, avocado, meat, Oaxaca cheese, and salsa
