My husband and I have eaten here at least 3 times. The food is fresh and delicious and the wait staff is efficient and friendly. They have an extensive menu so there's something for everyone. The restaurant has beautiful murals that decorate their walls. I...really like the chips served with four different salsas. Very good value also!More

Seriously great food at reasonable prices....the pork belly is bulls*+t good. Friendly staff and good atmosphere with local artist just walking in and playing. English menu.

I stopped for an early lunch and had the Cheese Enchilada Mole. It was served with a bowl of chips and four very good salsas. The mole was wonderful and the service was excellent. Two minor problems: the plate wasn't quite hot enough and the...Internet didn't work. I think if they had preheated the plate, the meal would have been perfect.More

El lugar merece la pena totalmente. La comida es buena, bonita y barata. El personal super amable y el lugar muy bonito. Me lo recomendó una amiga y me alegra no habérmelo perdido. Good quality homemade traditional Mexican cooking and the staff are great! I...totally recommend it. The place is also beautiful and cozy and the music is so nice. Don't miss this spot if you visit San Cristóbal!!More

This a thoroughly Mexican restaurant with good food and service. It is located on a main pedestrian street and was crowded with hungry tourists when we arrived. The only table available was in the loft. Stairs and distance to kitchen make service more difficult but...we truly enjoyed our meal, the local hot chocolate beverage, and the ambience of a fully staffed, well managed restaurant.More

I ate at La Abuelita yesterday for the first time and I really enjoyed all the food I ordered. The soup was excellent - all fresh ingredients, tasted like homemade. I also had nachos which were tasty but a cheese sauce was used that I...don't think was homemade, however, the nachos still tasted good. I ordered wings to go with a side of guacamole and both were delish! I was more than impressed with the wings and chipotle sauce - the wings were fat and succulent and cooked just right. The chipotle sauce was very, very tasty. I'm from Texas so I'm pretty particular about Mexican food and this will be one of my go to restaurants in San Cristobal de las Casas. They had many other items on the menu that I can't wait to try. I'm retired here in San Cristobal and eat out very often. This will be an excellent choice of restaurants because they have delicious sounding salads on the menu, along with other soups that I can't wait to try. There are vegetarian dishes, grilled meat dishes, breakfast and desserts. Yum, yum, yum!More

This is a place that I go back to, partly because it's within in my budget -- but even so the food is a drawing card. I recommend the "tampiqueño" -- a tender slim Mexican steak served with breans, guacamole and enchiladas. The service is...snappy and attentive.More

La Abuelita is a family run restaurant that serves good if not great breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. It is quite a large space and tables go back to a garden area. The juke box can be a bit deafening when it's on, but otherwise the...decibel level is OK. Soups and snacks are quite good. What I found to be remarkable and quite welcome was the excellent maintainence of the women's bathroom:clean, small baby changing table, (cushioned! )toilet seat, soap and paper towels! As another reviewer recommended, keep walking when the Real de Guadalupe pedestrian only andador ends. The businesses (art galleries, etc) and the Guadalupe Church at the end ogf the street are really worth a visit.More
