Driving up to San Cristobal was a total debacle because roads are closed and of course there are no detour signs or police directing traffic, what a mess!!! Having an amazing lunch at Tierra y Cielo made the entire 2 hour painful drive totally worth it! The decor, presentation, service...everything made it a great experience!

This a concept type of restaurant which takes local and regional recipes and mostly locally-sourced ingredients to make upscale, "nouveau Chiapas cuisine" dishes out of them. For the most part they do a very job. A bit pricey though. Similar to the "nouveau Oaxaca" type of restaurants in Oaxaca.

From arrival to departure all elements were as positive as could be. The staff were clearly focused on customers service in a professional yet friendly, helpful manner. The house wine was excellent. Appetizers were perfectly prepared followed by entrees of the Chiapas region which were delightful. If you would like to enjoy a well established comfortable restaurant offering regional fare... The menu seems exciting and the ranking. However when I went yesterday, understandably probably low season, we were the only diners. Atmosphere wasn't there. The execution of the food wasn't up to par either. My fish was way over cooked and very dry. The rest were just nothing special. Have tasted better Chiapas region dishes. Think Martha better return to... More

A small group of us descended on the restaurant for a celebration. The food was delicious and well presented. The waiters were helpful in choosing dishes to provide a good variety of local food. We had a great night and recommend the restaurant even though it is a little on the pricey side by Mexican standards.

The service and explanation of the dishes was really good. They recommend us the best dishes that they have and all of them were amazing.

A great place to eat gourmet Chiapan food. A little more expensive that other restaurants in San Cristobal, but a nice place to go for a more meal. There are plenty of great restaurants in San Cristobal, however this is a unique dining experience. I was by myself, but I could see this as a good place to go with... More

This is a very upscale restaurant that has been written up in many magazines. We had reserved a table for four for Good Friday about 3 weeks before and I re-confirmed about 6 days before. When we arrived they did not have our name. Whaaaat? Fortunately we were there early enough that they had a table. Our waiter seemed confused... More

this was a wonderful experience, the place was great, the food was wonderful, delicious, beautiful, we had the tasting menu and everything we got was very good. We also ordered the local drinks that went with the tasting menu and this were not so good, we liked maybe one or two of several. Pricey but worth it
