The restaurant not in the middle of the tourist center but within walking distance of the zocalo. Family owned and run for over 60 years, it offers quite an extensive menu of outstanding Oaxaca cuisine. It's not a trendy "chef of the month" type restaurant, simply one that has been around for some time and still offers great food in... More

This restaurant was included on a Top 10 list of recommended central Oaxaco restaurants provided by my B&B hosts. I went in for lunch on a Thursday around 12:30 and was the only diner. I don't speak Spanish, but was able to recognize enough dishes on the Spanish menu to choose something I would like. I ordered the fish filet... More

We have eaten her several times over the years, and it never disappoints us. Family run, connected to a hotel above and around it, opening onto a parking garage, it looks unprepossessing. But wow, it seems to always have all of the seven moles of Oaxaca. The amarillo, the verde, the oaxaqueno, and manchamanteles are the ones I have tried... More

This place is a little hard to find but worth it. It is near the 20 de Noviembre and Artisan Markets inside a hotel. The restaurant has been around for about 70 years. The woman who started it, now in her 90s is still around. Most Oaxacan food is fusion. This place has the original dishes prepared in the most... More

I have reviewed this restaurant before and wanted to do an update. My husband and I have been in Oaxaca many times and sampled a good many of the restaurants. La Coronita never fails to please and amaze us. The food is simple in presentation but very complex in flavors. The Moles are rich in flavor but not heavy or... More

One of our favorite meals in Oaxaca! Staff was incredibly helpful and caring. The meals were authentic and delicious. I had the mole amarillo and it was outstanding - a stew like meal served in a big bowl with 2 meaty pork vertebrae, string beans, and squash. Amazing!

One of the best comidascorridas ever. Extremely high quality local Oaxaquena moles, savory soups, todo. The family who owns the restaurant are so sweet and care deeply for their customers to have a wonderful dining experience. This restaurant is open, clean and one wall you can see the adjacent parking garage, which is not a problem. Very economical, service was... More

Homey ambiance, serving just typical Oaxacan food which Oaxacans eat. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's indeed filled with Oaxacans on weekends in particular.

My husband and I first discovered this restaurant around 30 years ago. It has been serving locals and visitors since 1948. Carmen, the owner oversees her cooks, many who have been with her for over 30 years. The food is simply presented, but complex in its flavors. The sopa de guias is a country style dish made with squash vines.... More
