The food was innovative but rooted in tradition. I did not have a rude server, as warned. I ordered a seasonal special of queso wrapped in hoja santa that was delicious.

Ate here more than other restaurants during a 9 night stay in Oaxaca. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Atmosphere was really good inside courtyard.

This lovely place is near the santo domingo church, albeit it is slightly away from the usual tracks if you are on feet. But it is very close and it is really worth the detour. They serve oaxacan dishes, but done in an unique way. If you like guava (guayaba), try the guayaba mole, not only it is rare, it... More

In my opinion, this is one of the top five restaurants in Oaxaca and it is an impressive five. The setting is a beautiful high stone-walled courtyard with a pond and a very nice bar with a separate seating area for those who just want a cocktail or to smoke. The food is very creative, blending local ingredients with spices... More

As of most other reviews the service leaves a lot to be desired.Plenty of regional dishes on the menu which are good. This restaurant is very popular but I found it all so haphazard and the staff always seemed to be chasing their own tails. When they took your order they were always looking around, for what I do not know. They never seemed... I visited La Biznaga for dinner alone on a weeknight. When entering the restaurant, you encounter a rope which blocks the dining room; you then need to wait for someone to let you in. The host finally came over and greeted me in a hurried and unfriendly manner. He seated me at a table and I proceeded to wait 15... More

This was a highly recommended restaurant, and we loved the decor and the food was for the most part very good and creative. But the service was *terrible*. I seriously started thinking it was personal. Did we do something wrong? Did we look funny? Why was the bartender so snippy when I mistakenly thought I could order a drink from... More

The service here sucks. Let's get that out of the way so we can discuss how wonderful, creative, delicious, wish I had 4 cow stomachs good the food was! I had the guava mole and tamarind water - it was like I died and went to food paradise! I absolutely adore both tamarind and guava, and to have both at... More

This nice restaurant is in the newly created pedestrian zone of Av Garcia Vigil, just a block west of Sto Domingo. Quiet shaded patio. Food is creative and delicious, prices moderate. Over course of 5 days we are there for lunch and dinner, liked atmosphere at night almost better with nice illumination of patio. Make sure to try salad Pata... More

Friends have been telling me to eat at Biznaga for awhile and on a our last trip to Oaxaca we finally went. I've never been so disappointed in a Oaxacan restaurant. I ordered the pork ribs and when they came, most of the plate was barely warm and some of the plate was down right cold. I sent it back... More
