Boulenc is one of the best breakfast restaurants in Oaxaca. As there is a waiting list (30 min) you can order a coffee and bread at the place next door to wait.
The French bread is crazy and the decoration and setting is amazing. I'm sure all foreigners really enjoy this place. It is city quality with the look & feel of a magical town. The service is quite agile and fast
Highly recommended

Came here for breakfast. We were told the wait would be 30 mins and it only ended up being 15. Host was nice but not overly friendly. We were seated upstairs which wasn’t as charming as the main dining room but at least the wait wasn’t long. Our waiter had a major attitude like he would rather be anywhere else but working here. Despite that the coffee and food were great. I had an americano and my partner had a chai latte with almond milk. They charged us for the almond milk. Both drinks were good. For breakfast I had the one vegan option the ciabatta sandwich which was excellent. The bread was amazing-super fresh, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was served with both spicy and savory matcha sauces both delicious. My partner had the brioche French toast served with cream and maybe ice cream. He wasn’t sure but said everything was excellent. We plan to return again tomorrow.

Easy to find. Walkable from most central hotels. Great atmosphere at night. Busy but wait time short. Helpful staff. My spanish limited but they were patient and actually spoke English. Menu has times slots. Morning, lunch, all day and evening. Great options. Portion size large. I had been recommended the eggplant pizza as my favourite vegetable didn't disappoint. Highly recommend coming. I'll be back.

Although this was our first time eating at Boulenc, we were not surprised to arrive 15 minutes after opening & have to wait for a table. However, their wait list system is inadequate. We ended up waiting 45 minutes to be seated after watching many other diners who arrived after us get seated first.
Once we were seated, service was good. The food was also very good except that the breakfast "burger" was cold when it was served. For those reasons our experience was not great.

This place has gone downhill. We first started coming to Oaxaca 7 years ago, and early on Boulenc had great service and great food. The service is still good if not great, but the food just isn’t made with the same care. The pizza is probably the best option on the menu. Breakfasts are boring, and even the vaunted bakery items aren’t cutting it anymore. We always stay a block away, which used to be a great asset and has now become a non-factor.

This place has a good atmosphere and my husband said his sandwich was good. However, we were very disappointed to not have gluten free options as advertised after walking a while to find this place and waiting for a table. When I asked about GF options the server seemed annoyed. Then he said they don't fire up the oven for pizza until after 1:00 pm so no GF pizzas available. I asked what other GF options were there and he said none, except for one salad if I don't eat the bread that it comes with. We really wouldn't have wasted our time to look for this restaurant if we had known that it doesn't truly have GF options. There are many other good restaurants that don't specify GF but in reality have more options than this place. If you're not GF then there would probably be some good food.

Not worth it. My friend already finished her dish for 10 minutes. After that my dish finally came. Nothing special, just eggplant in the oven, not worth the wait.. We asked the waiter what could take so long, they did nothing about it, not even an explenation or excuse.

Had 2 meals here and went to their bakery almost daily for goodies and coffee. This place is always crowded because they have hit the sweet spot in terms of ambience, quality of food, and pricing. The eggplant stack and the gnocchi were both outstanding.

We came for breakfast at 9:30 on a Thursday morning and had a 15-20 minute wait (not bad). The shakshuka was fantastic! The English muffin with egg & added bacon was also good. Definitely recommend.

Super fresh , great atmosphere and friendly staff. I picked the ensalada with goat cheese and pizzetas with champignons and both were delicious. My girlfriend took the lasagne verde and was also amazing. I recommend to come with an empty stomach which is difficult in Oaxaca with all the food here :) they even let us try different wine tastes ❤️

Stopped into the cafe portion and was delighted to discover some gluten free options! They were DELICIOUS and unique to the place, like the pan con elote. Not exactly separated from the rest of the baked goods so please consider cross contamination if you’re intolerant/a Celiac.

Recommanded by a local friend so we said lets try it. On the menu you had several options such as pizza, pasta, … everything made fresh.
They even had a bakery besides the restaurant with delicious sweets as wel as bread.
Mmmm must try

The food at this café bakery restaurant is exquisite! We enjoyed our main meals and the desserts (tiramisu and brownie) were amazing. The main meals were accompanied by their signature sourdough which was terrific! (Note that several Oaxacan eateries are using the Boulenc sourdough!) Unfortunately, the lack of lighting meant that everyone had to use their phones to see the menu, the food and their bills! The music was also a bit too loud so it was hard to hold a conversation

After several days of heavy street food, I greatly enjoyed my lunch of deliciously fresh naranjada and a serrano ham tartine with arugula and seriously yummy sourdough bread. The courtyard setting was handsome and relaxing, and service was good. Also, I also picked up a loaf of sliced multigrain bread for future breakfasts at my rental unit. (With all respect to Oaxaca's traditional pan de yema, sweet bread just isn't my jam.)
