This was by far the most unique eating experience we've had in Oaxaca. From the excellent service and timing of each presentation, to the flavors and aromas of each bite of food. A work of art and science combined to create a gastronomical evening adventure. No matter the size, each morsal was a subtle burst of loving energy put into... More

This was, hands down, in my top 5 best meals ever. After 2 weeks travelling around Mexico it was so refreshing to find fine dining contemporary Mexican cuisine. We started with crispy tortillas from around the Oaxaca region. My favourite was the honey-roasted sesame seed - such a nice change from the classic corn tortilla served with every meal. The... We had the tasting with the pairings and it was simply amazing. Whenever we are back in Oaxaca we will be back for sure. Take money with you because is expensive but it's worth the pay.

We decided to try the 6 course tasting menu with accompanying drinks and it didn't disappoint. The dishes were innovative and tasty, the right side of quirky! We had assumed that we'd be served matching wines but in fact we had 3 Mezcal based drinks, a local beer, 2 wines and a 'gin and tonic', so not what we were... More

Should be 6 stars. The place is run by a chef who worked at mega-restaurant El Bulli and it shows. We had the 6 course degustation menu and it was truly excellent. It is probably pricy compared to other Oaxaca restaurants but was an absolute bargain for us, used to UK prices. It is more European in the style of... More

We had a reservation at Los Danzantes but to my shock the restaurant turned out to be shut when we arrived. Luckily our hotel recommended Pitiona instead and I am so glad they did. Food is super tasty and original. It combines European and Mexican flavours - their soup (signature dish) was delicious and I personally recommend the fish with... More

This is the perfect translation from the traditional food from Oaxaca region to the modernness of the 21. century. The chef has been outside the country in Spain with the famous restaurant Bully which is one of the best of the world. So you can imagine what kind of taste you will find with this mixture of two cultures.

A perfect fusion of traditional food from the region with a touch of modernness. Have to order tacos de lechón, molotes, ensalada ahumada, ceviche con sandia, rissoto con escamoles. Excellent mixology with mezcal

If you are a foodie, then eat here. Have the tasting menu. It is a huge bargain by US standards and as interesting and delicious as just about anything I have had in the US outside of the French Laundry (and similar restaurants). We didn't like every single course that our party got (one was non-dairy and they did a... More

Pitiona was a highly anticipated reservation. I am celiac (gluten free) and during the booking, we noted this. We received a confirmation acknowledging that this would be no problem. When we arrived, we confirmed this (all in Spanish, so no translation issues) and the server again told us that it was no problem and everything in the 9 course menu... More
