One of the best restaurants in Oaxaca! All the menu is outstanding!! We probably had one of each of the entire menu!! Mole is their specialty and it's delicious!! It's zero pretentious and super simple!! Food takes a while because it's made on the spot!...Buts Amazing!! Highly recommended a most on every visitMore

I have been visiting Oaxaca for 25yrs,and I am quite familiar with Oaxacan cuisine. This was the worst meal my wife and I have had in our 2 months here. I suffered the same fate as the last reviewer: chicken so dry and tough. My...wife's shrimp was dry and overcooked. The small patio was lovely. It should have been a perfect Oaxacan experience. I may stop back and talk to the owner.More

I am typically quick to write positive TripAdvisor reviews and slow on the negative. I’m grateful to use this as a resource however for recommendations so feel I should be honest with the bad reviews as well. In a city flooded with delicious street food...and restaurants, La Teca was the absolute worst food I had throughout my two week trip in Mexico. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Friday night, which should have been a red flag, and we all ordered the tasting menu. The food was nearly inedible. The chicken was so dry it was laughable how long it took to chew one single bite. Everything else was mushy (we could hear the microwave going in the kitchen so I’m guessing that’s what made it all mush?). My fiancé is a fan of all micheladas he has ever had in the world, and took one sip and couldn’t handle more. We paid about 5 times as much for this meal than any other we had in Mexico. Ive been trying to make sense of why our experience was so much worse than many of the positive reviews but I’ll never return to La Teca to find out. The server was quite nice and the outside seating had beautiful orchids - to end on a positive note.More

Cute & cozy place. You are eating in the family's home. Unique experience! We had the Tasting Menu, not on the menu, which was very good. The only complaint were the tortillas... we were expecting homemade tortillas but we were served store bought tortillas. Everything...else was very tasty and very Oaxacan.More

Had dinner here after reading that this was Calvin Trillin’s favorite Oaxacan restaurant. It’s about a 70 peso cab ride from the Centro in the Reforma District. We all agreed that it was our best meal yet in Oaxaca. Our waiter was friendly and guided...us through the menu. Family run restaurant that serves up excellent local fare at a very good value.More

This was a great place to eat tipical food from the isthmus, visited with a group of friends and ordered the tasting menu. The food is prepared by the owner of the house and it was absolutely delicious. Authentic home cooked meal that is hard...to beat.More

Everything we ate here was delicious! I think I could taste the time and love that it took to cook and perfect each dish because the recipes tasted like they were all secret recipes passed down through generations and shared with everyone who comes to...dine. The courtyard was lovely and our server was very kind. Highly recommend. Tasting menu is a must. Remember cash only!More

It’s not listed on the menu but do ask for the tasting menu, you won’t be disappointed. Ask to sit in the garden. Food like your Mexican grandmother might make. Beautiful setting in the lush patio garden in the home of the chef. Sweet gentle...service. Our waiter warned us ahead of time that the portions would be small but they were extremely generous and we were so stuffed by the end. Excellent margaritas too! Don’t miss this meal in Oaxaca even though it is a tad off the beaten path.More

My husband and I tried this restaurant based upon the reviews. It just was not one of our favorites. It was a bit of a cab ride from Oaxaca city center to get there and it is in an old house but the food just...did not "wow" us. My husband had a pork dish that was bathed in mole just a little too much. We sampled a couple of tamales which were good but not enough to drive outside the city for.More
