My wife and I have frequented ML countless times over the many years we have been here. We keep going back for it used to be fairly OK Italian that is close by. But last night turn the tides. We went went some out-of-town friends,...there were four of us. The waiter brought 3 menus, then when he finally returned with the silverware he was short one fork. Menu and fork had to be requested. It appeared to be only 2 waitstaff on duty last night and it was packed. Our food took exceptionally long to arrive. After he finally did bring our plates we never were able to get his attention. My wife ordered the salmon, something she used to get quite a lot. It was always well presented and it was good. Last night when the two salmon plates arrived you could not tell if there was salmon on the plate at all. The fish was covered with a mountain of chopped tomatoes. Really, there must have been at least 4 tomatoes chopped that covered the fish. The side of vegetables that came with it were almost raw. My plate, the Penne with pesto arrived with what appeared to be more chopped tomatoes, some sprinkled basil and melted cheese, in a very loose tomato juice, not sauce, but juice. No Pesto at all. It was a real disappointment all around. After finally tracking down the waiter he brought us the bill. We never saw him again. I brought the bill with payment to the cashier myself. My wife and spoke about this after we dropped off our friends and decided that last night was the last time for us.More
So I had reservations to one of the fanciest traditional Oaxacan cuisine restaurants for our 10 year anniversary, and my wife wanted nothing more than pizza. She was burnt out on mole and tortillas, and it was understandable. So we ended up here. A local...recommended it as he said it’s the only wood fire pizza place in town. At first I was worried about ambiance because there were a bunch of kids goofing off at a table by the entrance, but this place has 3 levels! We snuck up to the roof section and had a quiet and peaceful meal. They had beefy leather couches up there, so we were very comfortable. The pizza was fantastic and we were pleased with our decision to go there. I would consider giving it 5 stars, but we had to ask for the bill a couple of times and finally had to chance down the waiter. No hard feelings against him- poor guy was sweating trying to keep up with the busy night, and of course we were on the 3rd floor.More
I’ve been looking all over Oaxaca for really good Italian food and wandered into this cozy family place right around the corner from where I stay. After many other restaurants I had sworn to give up looking for Italian food and just enjoy the delicious...local cuisine. So surprised and happy to find delicious sauce and spaghetti al dente! This place will be a regular for me!!More
Loved the vegetarian options. Great pizza. Beautiful decor, great service. Perfect for a couple or family.
When you are in Oaxaca and craving something other than all that tasty Oaxacan cuisine, Casa Maria Lombardo is a great bet. The setting is great with tables on several levels overlooking the inner courtyard, as well as down to the street from 3 floors...up. The service was friendly and good, although little English was spoken- we seemed to be the only tourists in the entire place, and many of the tables were local couples having a date night. 2 fresh and delicious salads, 2 pastas and a bottle of Mexican sauvignon blanc came to maybe $50 USD. It was a terrific value and the pizzas being served also looked delicious.More
2030 and near to closing time. After a day of mole' making this change of cuisine was welcome. My spaghetti carbonara, in salata Mediterranea without chilaquiles and sta Digna merlot tastefully hit the spot and made for a very restful sleep. Some quiet piano music...and the slightly smoky pizza oven atmosphere almost transformed our present locale in Oaxaca.More
We stopped in here for an early dinner. It was busy and had a nice atmosphere. Pizzas were good, thin base and nice flavours. Chocolate cake for dessert was great. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place for pizza
After a week in Oaxaca, we wanted pizza and something casual for dinner. The pizza was pretty good but not the greatest. Try the more gourmet styles of pizzas they offer, my friends were very happy with theirs.
Cute ambience but a fried chicken cutlet with a little melted cheese on top and ketchup on the side and French fries is not chicken parmigiana. The waiters try hard but until someone takes the kitchen in hand and teaches it true Italian cooking this...is not a place to go.More
