The place is OK, service is a little slow but the food is fantastic. A little expensive, dishes don't include side orders but the flavors and ingredients are worth the extra wait and money.

(Sorry for the title) In reading about the Oaxaca City restaurants prior to our recent trip to the city, I had read that Los Pacos was a good place to sample various moles. With that in mind, Los Pacos was where we had our first dinner in Oaxaca City. For our first Oaxaca City meal I ordered chicken enchiladas with... More

As usual they provide a sampling of the moles to go with your meat. All the moles were very good and making the final choice was difficult. The service was also very good.

I had the chile colorado mole with a chicken breast. When you order the mole you have to also order the meat you will have at an additional cost. My husband had the mole sampler and his plate included white rice and chicken with the many types of mole. He liked the chile colorado best too!

You can't go to Oaxaca without having mole. I asked the hotel for a recommendation, and this is where the sent us. I had the seven mole sampler - each served with chicken over rice. My wife had the mole Colorado with chicken breast. We were not disappointed. I found that I like the moles negro and Colorado best. The... More

We stopped in one evening for a drink and definitely ordered the wrong thing. My husband I were not ready for dinner but wanted something to go with drinks. we could not agree on what to get so my husband won out and got a sampler plate for us to share. Big mistake. You could tell the kitchen thought that... More

As authentic as you could expect it ! Los Pacos is a culinary jewel in Oaxaca, located behid the Quinta Real hotel. You will find surrounded by local art, clean location and friendly atmosphere to prepare you for the typical delicacies and regional flavors, like the 7 moles' flavors. Not to miss the escamoles with guacamole or the chicken in... More

7 Molé Tasting Platter (4 with nuts +3 no nuts = 7 delicious tastes) The 7 Molés should be the first thing you taste when you arrive in Oaxaca! I came to Oaxaca to experience its molés. Not the awful salty chocolate stuff that I ate in Tijuana decades ago. I watched TV programmes about the different moles, their ingredients... More

The tortilla chips were like wood, the salsa runny, the calabasa soup has a couple big ears of corn stuck in it, chunks of squash and big green leaves in an otherwise watery grulle. The cheese enchiladas in colorado sauce was a couple folded tortilas in very heavy negro mole with nothing inside. Lousy service, lousy meal!

While the service is a little scattered, the food here is absolutely terrific, especially the enormous pollo mole , tacos, and enchiladas. The lunch is reasonable, but the complexity of spices in the mole amarillo is spectacularly good, much better than expected. It opens - sort of - at 1 pm for lunch, but the festivities (and food) don't really... More
