This restaurant was highly recommended in the Moon Guidebook we had for Oaxaca. We stopped in for lunch one day and ended up having dinner there on our final evening in the city. The restaurant is in a covered courtyard off of Alcala, next to the Amate Bookstore. The courtyard is surrounded by art galleries on the 2nd floor. all... More

We loved this place, its food and friendly staff. Breakfast is reasonable but be prepared to pay US prices for their fabulous table side performance of shrimp flambé in tequila and bananas in Kahlua and rum.

This restaurant is set in a large sunlight lit patio of an old Spanish Colonial Mansion. There are plants in the center, and generally very pleasant. The food was well presented, and we had Oaxaca dishes such as Mole, and Arachero. It was considered expensive for Oaxacans, but with the US$ exchange, it was very reasonable. *It is off the... More

This courtyard restaurant is very pretty and relaxing. The lunch service was very attentive, just a pleasure. The food is above average and so are the prices. We will definitely return as there were many delicious items on the menu, and we were treated well.

Visited with a large group. Wait staff wew very efficient and personable. The Caesar salad for two was ine of the best ever and prepared tableside. Chicken curry had a wonderul sauce, but a small amount of rice. The desserts were all disappointing.

We were surprised by a mighty rain shower and fled into the Hosteria Alcala to protect us from the rain. Inside we discovered a vey nice covered court yard and a lot of Mexican patrons. They were enjoying the great food and the classic service with very attentive "old style" waiters. We had a most crisp and fresh salad for... More

Like many hotels in Oaxaca this is a courtyard restaurant. We stumbled on it for breakfast the first day and came back twice more, By the end the patron was greeting us with hugs! A comfortable quiet space that was a cool retreat delivering wonderful scrabbled eggs a la Mexicana and something interesting with eggs, potato and a Spanish jamon... More

We travelled once more to one of our favorite spots, Oaxaca, for a five nights over new years eve. We'd failed to get dinner reservations before leaving Sacramento and started our quest on the 29th, a bit late, and with good help from the staff at Casa Ollion, really good B&B, the only opening was at the Hosteria de Alcala....
