Authentic Oaxacan food, a variety of moles to choose from. I had the braised spare ribs that were perfectly cooked in a nice presentation. My brother had the Manchamanteles, which were not served in a traditional manner but they were presented very nicely. Great margarita....More

The food and service were wonderful. We loved our waiter, Alberto! The music by the guitarist and singer was a wonderful addition. He plays there nightly. We went twice. Sit by the fountain if you can.

I’ve always liked this restaurant, a stonethrow from the carhedral, but not having been in Oaxaca for years, this was the first visit in a long time. Me and my sister started with breakfast, opted for fruit, cooffe and regional cuisine in the form of...More

First visit I had chilles rellanos (inc chapulín). Was delicious. Second visit I had cheesecake and a hot chocolate. Was delicious. Looking around the room everyone’s food looked delicious. Catedral is listed as ££££ but actually a meal with a couple of beers will only...More

Very nice environment and food. We were 5 and I had the mole negro, very tasty. Some plates, however, came in small portions, whcic made this place not so attractive in terms of cost/benefit.

The first time we ate at Catedral was about 25 years ago. It was one of the best places in town and still is. A few night ago we had a fabulous dinner, excellent food, great service and (although expensive for Oaxaca) quite inexpensive by...More

Went for brunch on Sunday. The chilaquiles had dry chicken on them and no eggs. The fried eggs with bacon was boring. The crepes of huitlacolche were interesting. Service was average. Music was good, place is pretty. Don’t go for breakfast

I am not the biggest fan of fish, but will order certain kinds. This ended up being the best meal of our stay, which is saying something in this town of many excellent restaurants.

This is one of the nicest resturants on Oaxaca. The location is central, about one block from the Zocalo. In contrast to other fine Oaxacan resturants, Catedral is more likely to be full of Oaxacans. The food is elegant and excellent, and fine without being...More

Don't wear flip flops and beach type apparel. Jeans are Ok, but you will fit better with slacks and shirt or a dress. Shorts might not be rejected, but they are not OK for the venue.

Yes, they still had it in November 2016. The price is about $200 pesos. They told me at the restaurant that it the buffet will continue to be offered: excellent value, good opportunity to try a variety of dishes.
