Lovely luncheon venue. The two pasta dishes on the menu were outstanding. Great mezcal cocktails and outstanding service.

Thank you for the excellent atmosphere, cocktails, food and service. We ate at the top tier restaurants in Oaxaca and this was one of the best.

Food, service, ambiance all exceptional. We really enjoyed the patio setting under a cleverly designed fabric rooftop. Not inexpensive, but perfection seldom is. A general comment about this and other restaurants in Oaxaca: wine culture here seems backward/non-existent and generally restricted to Mexican and a...few Chilean wines, which can be fine. Yes, they have mezcal, but mezcal does not play the same role wine does. Anyway, I wonder whether any restaurant in this part of the world has quality wines. If a wine culture existed here, I would ding this restaurant - but it doesn't, so to reduce their score on this account seems unrealistic/unfair.More

We did not have reservation and were seated in the salon, for just 10-15 minutes. While seated we were offered a glass of cold water with lemon and rosemary. To start, our waiter brought us a basket of bread and 4 kinds of tostadas to...munch with green salsa, red salsa, and a sinful coconut butter. Everything was extremely tasty! We had 2 Cocktails: Sanson and Coctel Danzantes. Both cocktails were beautifully executed, fragrant, and fresh. Then 2 Main courses: Ancho chili stuffed with huitlacoche, tamala pumpkin puree, goat cheese, and baby veggies; Pork ribs, candied in oaxacan spirits sauce (salsa borracha) with plantain and native apple puree. The salsa borracha was a reduction of beer, mezcal, and pulque. The taste was layered and fragrant. We ended with only 1 Dessert (because the portions were big for us): Goat cheese flan with lavender, which was refreshing and complex with different layers, textures, and tastes. Our total (2 cocktails, 2 main courses, 1 dessert, and tip) came up to almost US$ 65. Expensive for Oaxaca, but it was totally worth it. Our server Antonio spoke perfect English, but was very patient when we wanted to practice Spanish.More

Excellent service with Eduardo. Ambiance was stunning in a beautifully lit patio area open to the sky - retractable roof for the colder evenings! Mezcal cocktail list impressive. Food was next level, particularly Oaxacan menu items and the desserts. Must try a few!!

We enjoyed a late lunch at Los Danzantes and it was the best meal of our entire visit in Oaxaca. From the relaxed atmosphere to the attentive service and the amazing food, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Do yourself a favour and make a booking on...Open Table to ensure you get a spot. We live in London - we were up for doing something exceptional for New Years and had never spent GBP 160 per person for a meal ever in our lives despite living in one of the most expensive cities in the world. We were recommended...the restaurant by family who had been there and had a great time, so we booked a few weeks in advance. Prices were increased for the new years menu, which we agreed to (we were told this was really common for Mexican New Year). Quick summary of what we got: - nothing that resembled Mexican food - one menu for everyone without a choice (granted, we had seen the menu before we booked) - dishes that came out cold (us and others were sending them back, including a small slice of a steak for the main course with mashed potato) - shared table between random people to squeeze in more (people who joined us were lovely, but not everyone is keen for wedding-like small talk on New Year's!) - no proper choice of drinks on the night (these would be in addition to the GBP 160 for the meal and watered-down twquila we were served). We asked for Margaritas which they originally refused to serve us, but they gave in once they realised lots of people were confused and wanted drinks for the price. - a tacky cabaret show, complete with power cuts - a lot of people we talked to felt embarrassed to be there and couldn't quite believe the experience This was our New Year experience- so want to emphasise that I'm sure it might different and people don't normally have such a disaster (I can see two further similar reviews below). But the fact we felt so exploited was shameful, and left us feeling really really down. For New Year's Day we went to Casa Oaxaca and had some outstanding food with a wonderful atmosphere. Great meal for two and very memorable for GBP 60 (including a decent tip) - for less than 20% of the price! I've never written a review for anything, but felt compelled to do so given how upset we were to start 2023 in such a bad way. We'll be writing to the restaurant as well.More

We went for lunch a couple of days ago. My partner ordered a salad, which they had indicated was organic. After a couple of bites, she turned one leaf to only discover that it was infested with small living worms. After complaining and indicating that...this was unacceptable the waiter only said: what do you want me to do? I am surprised and disgusted by the lack of hygiene and by the rudeness of the staff. I was unfortunately not able to take pictures as they quickly removed the “worm” salad.More

Came here six years ago and decided to try it again. Enjoyed it so much we came for dinner first, then lunch again. Service - I don't normally comment too much on service unless it's especially good or especially bad for fine dining, but the...service here is especially *good* for fine dining. I had to cancel my original reservation and the front of house was able to put me on a waiting list. The waiters are the most English friendly out of all the fine dining places we've been to as well. Recommended dishes - octopus is still top notch (I had it on my first visit). Shrimp tlayuda, butter roasted cauliflower, quelites soup, tamala pumpkin, guava cheesecake, agua frescas (guava & mandarin) are always the right balance Pretty good dishes - Chicken breast, Tlalpeño soup The wild mushroom lasagna was a bit too heavy for my tasteMore

8 of us had a late lunch here and enjoyed it completely. Their mezcales are great. The cocktails are wonderful. The stuffed breast of chicken was perfectly cooked. The stuffing was great. The mole sauce was excellent. The short rib pasta was good, but not...wonderful, but I should have known from the description.More

The acoustics, lighting, appetizers, everything really amazing. The Mogo Mogo and the Ceviche were killer! Small comment is that I ordered the following main dish: Ancho chili stuffed with huitlacoche (corn fungus), tamala pumpkin purée, goat cheese and baby veggies from our garden. It was...all black like Mole, but tasted like chewing on a wet cigar (not in a nice way). The waiter came over and asked me out of the blue if I was enjoying it and i had to be honest and say no. He then went back to talk to the chef about getting me something else. When he came back he told me that they couldn't give me anything else because I had already eaten more than 50%.More

We tried many recommended places to eat in Oaxaca and Los Danzantes stood out for the quality of its food - including using local ingredients as much as possible, excellent friendly service and a great location. We couldn't get a dinner reservation as it gets...booked up quickly, but managed to get in for lunch at short notice. The mole tasting platter, quelites (wild edible plants) soup and the goat cheese flan were the highlights of the meal. Would definitely go back!More
