It's a great spot; good drinks selection, salsa music, and most importantly, atmosphere! I would definitely go there again! The small negative point; it was 100 pesos for entry, and the drinks weren't very cheap. It was 50 pesos a Modelo Negro in there... Though, frankly, we were so hooked on the dancing that we hardly drank anything!!

Lively club with great music and if you can find space in the crowded floor you can dance with some well practiced salsa dancers. Entry fee is OK and the drink prices from the bar are fair, ordering drinks from the roving waiters is very expensive and they don't bring your change so stick to ordering at the bar.. Good night out...

They charged us for admission, they promised to give us a place at the bar for 2 people, but there was no place, we requested relocation or a refund of the money since there was no promised place. They refused, besides we had almost no bad service and then they treated us badly for refusing to pay a tip for service that was very bad. There was no physical letter and the QR was not read by our phones. I would not return nor recommend it.

Had a great time here! Went on a Friday night - band was great, and cocktails were a decent price. Lots of people dancing and up for a good time but fair few just sitting at tables or standing as well - you don’t need to be proficient if you want to join in. There are tables which I guess you can book but we didn’t bother. We just turned up around 10:30 or so and we were in without too much hassle. You pay a small cover to go in, and they accept card payments on the door. They’ve an upstairs which is where we went and found bar stools at the edge of the balcony where we sat and watched the band. Open late too - would definitely recommend!

SCAM ALERT!! CHECK YOUR BILL EVERY TIME!! They knew I am not from here since I didn't speak Spanish. So the guy who is in charge of taking drink order and give you your bill decided to charge me 6 TIMES THE AMOUNT I SHOULD PAY (after being super friendly to me and calling me his friend). Fortunately I glanced at the bill and realized by no way my order was that much since I only had 1 non-alcoholic drink. The guy replied with a series of lies in this order: 1- He went ahead and lied to me that the bill is correct and it's for 2 alcoholic drinks. I said "No, false, I am allergic and do not drink alcohol, and hence I'm also not drunk, I can also count, and too bad for you I know I had 1 drink" 2- Then he switched strategy and said "Oh so the bill is for you and your friend" My reply "No, we have separate bills. Also she does not drink enough to bring the total up to this" 3- He left pretended to get money from my friend, but came back with some cash which did not make up the difference. So I wasted another 5 mins telling him this is not ok, I won't tolerate your dishonesty which is shameful to the nice Mexican people I have met during my trip. Oh gosh I disgust this type of behavior. Be nice and get fat tip. You are hurting the reputation of your country! Also the manager was there and did not care.

We were recommended this place by our Airbnb host, but didn't take it too seriously. The next night, we ended up in the neighborhood and decided to take a look.... ($50 on a Thursday)... WOW we were NOT disappointed. The bartenders took care of us all night, made sure we were having a good time. The most charming men taught us a few steps to the rhythm without an ounce of seediness. Most importantly, the incredible couples all around the place and in any free space were mind-blowing to watch. There are some seriously talented dancers to watch as you sip a mojito and wonder how you wished you were a salsa queen like the other ones there. I'd highly recommend Mama Rumba!!

If you want to learn some salsa steps without feeling like a total idiot.. Mama Rumba is the place. Its filled with charming gentlemen always eager to dance in the most respectful manner. Also if your not into that is great to sit back with a mojito and watch the couples burn up the dance floor.. there were really some incredibly talented dancers. The music is fabulous and the energy is indescribable.. Go for a night of laughter, love and fun :)

We went on a Saturday night . Band started at 11p we arrived just before midnight at the end of their first set . Dj fills in with some Salsa, Cuban and Reggaeton selection. As we found a place to sit upstairs we got some beers at the bar.dance floor continues to pop off with sexy couples who look likes pros, at about 12:20 the band comes back on stage. I can't remember the bands name but they clearly were very talented. They we playing salsa and Cuban songs. The stage was live and the crowd were dancing non stop...We were the only non-locals in the place and loved every minute.

Great live music, free salsa lessons and very good mojitos. It is a must if you are a salsa dancer or if you are just curious and would like to try some new steps.

Mama Rumba is a place that has a live group from wednesday to saturday's nights. The group plays the miscalled Cuban Salsa, which is actually called Timba in Cuba, not Salsa, it is different from the true Salsa from Puerto Rico, New York and Colombia (that is, artists like Héctor Lavoe, Willie Colón, Rubén Blades, Frankie Ruiz, Joe Arroy, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar de León, Grupo Niche, Marc Anthony). So if you're looking to dance current hits like "Porqué será" or "Yo no sé mañana", or oldies like "Llorarás", "No le pegue a la Negra", "Talento de TV". You won't hear them here, beacusa that is salsa and in mama rumba they only play the more recent Timba music and cuban reguetón, that is music from artists like Los Van Van, Alexander Abreu, La Charanga Habanera, Manolito y Su Trabuco. Accordingly the dancing style you will find at Mama Rumba is the Casino style, that is the way it is danced Timba in Cuba, so look in youtube for Casino style or Salsa casino and you will notice how it is. But you will also find the Mexican stlye of dancing salsa, that it is more similar to the Mexican cumbia style of dancing that you can find in youtube, this will be danced by the ocassional visitor to Mama Rumba, that is not much into dancing and more about having fun in a latin music bar or club. The cover price is just a little more than average for a latin club with a live group. The group normally has two or three sets and in between there's a DJ. On fridays and saturdays they open the upper floor for more dancing and tables space. Normally you will be expected to buy a bottle of spirit, or a package of beers to get a table, other than that you most probably woulg have to be standing in the most busy hours. Service is good and some of the waiters are very good actually. There is a smoke area at the back, bathrooms are good and in general the place is full in the busy hours, expect to have little room for dancing but lots of options of dancing partners. PS. If you're a looking for true Salsa music and dancing in the Consesa/Roma area: Pata Negra on Wednesdays and Saturdays's nights has a live salsa group and there is no cover. Mojito Room, with cover around the same price that Mama Rumba has a Salsa and Timba group and the play also reguetón and sometimes bachata,

Great place with great music, drinks and food. This place feels really authentic, not like the one places that don't know their deal. Food is O.K. for a bar, music is always great.

Cuban food is not so impressive but the entertainment venue is excellent! I was there for a late night dinner and everything came out a little dry and over cooked, nothing like any good Cuban food I would expect in Miami. As the night goes on, the music, the dance, the people all came together. I love Salsa music and the live band was just excellent! Drinks are reasonable as well. If you plan to stay there longer than a couple of hours, it's probably more economical to just buy the liquor by the bottle instead of by the glasses. Enjoy the wonderful music and the dance!!

They had a great live band, but overall the place is pretty cramped for dancing. They still make it work though, including pockets of folks dancing in the aisles and wherever they can squeeze in. The band started about 11p and was still going strong at 3am. I'd go back to Mama Rumba, but would also be game to find a place with a bigger and purpose built dance floor. There was no cover and the service was attentive.
