I wanted to love Lardo. I loved the atmosphere and the food tasted great. I had ceviche and the famous huitlacoche pizza. But I got horrible food poisoning the next day - I was sick for about six days and it ruined a week of...my trip. It was so bad I had to take antibiotics. Another friend said he had the huitlacoche on a prior visit and also came down with very severe, long-lasting gastrointestinal issues. Note: I’ve had huitlacoche lots of other places and never had a problem.More

Staff treated me terribly because I wore shorts. They told me that they had everything booked but assigned a woman a table without reservation too.

Yes, you have to wait for a table - sometimes quite awhile. But the atmosphere, food and service are worth it! What a charming little restaurant with a wonderful menu. It's also in a beautiful neighborhood. I'll definitely be back.

We went twice to this restaurant as the food was great and not covered in spice and fruit, delicious dishes and well cooked. We managed to get a table each time and were outside with heater so great,

Every time I try to go eat here there is a waiting time, while more than half of the tables and most of the bar is open. They make you wait outside seemingly for no reason and their reasoning is that they have reservations to...abide by. It’s ridiculous to make someone that is there at the present moment to wait because of reservations of people that are not present when all I wanted was to have a coffee at the bar. Literally the whole bar was open when I was there. I would have most likely finished the coffee before they would have sat anyone down which seems like never. Imagine if I was someone notable or famous.. I don’t think waiting/ignoring me would be an option. Clearly there needs to be someone there with more sensibility and authority to clearly see that I would have been able to have a coffee without taking someone’s reservation at the bar. It is obvious that they have a trendy trophy up their ass which I believe is because of the hard work of the cooks that are producing high quality food.More

Stunning food, freshly prepared in the open kitchen. Sit at the bar counter and enjoy all the different dishes that come past before you make your own choice. Wood oven for pizza and other dishes with a lazy Susan inside. Very nice ambiente and very...good wines by the glass. Apart from all standard questions about vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, it is great for Keto or Palaeo diets too.More

Really mediocre/bad Mediterranean restaurant. Starters bland but edible (nothing to write home about), followed by inedible mains. My partner’s parmigiana had not been prepared or cooked properly and was basically just a hot pot of bitter pieces of aubergine. My grilled octopus was tasteless, rubbery...and chewy, and accompanied by a few bits of lettuce with some old wrinkled tomatoes soaked in supermarket vinaigrette. Left having been robbed of around $70 for mostly awful food and substandard cocktails.More

Very overpriced and food is just ok. My Humus tasted odd (with not much chickpea) and the chicken liver on toasts was harsh and not nice. The black rice with seafood was very underwhelming but very oily and at 15 dollars for this micro portion,...one could expect a little more than 6 very small pieces of fish, prawns and calamari. This is a place to be seen and to eat something different than tacos, but it is certainly not good cuisine.More

Lovely food, staff and setting. The starters and small plates are much larger and better value than the mains. Would definitely recommend.

We were in the City staying in Roma Norte for 8 nights. Of our seven evening dining choices, Lardo ranks near the top. Went with a reservation (recommended as it’s popular) and requested indoor seating as the evening was cool and to avoid any outdoor...guest who might smoke. The service is attentive and professional, the food excellent and as mentioned a fine selection of good Mexican red wines. The octopus appetizer, beet salad, fettuccine with pork ragu, the Margarita pizza excellent and the shared rhubarb tarta were all perfect. We will returnMore

We have been on a gastronomic tour through Mexico City. This restaurant was at the level of the best restaurants we visited. We love the fact that it is very high caliber food yet served in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. They offer a great...selection of local craft beers and I loved their selection of Mexican wines. The octopus was phenomenal. The black rice is not made with squid ink but it’s actually a black rice served with seafood and it was delicious. The papardelle with rabbit ragout should not be missed.More

I hate to have to write this review, but it’s necessary. We arrived at the restaurant without reservations and told we would have to wait 40 minutes to get a table. That was no problem at all. They called for us about before the 40 minutes, great. Alfredo, our waiter, arrives and he didn’t even great us. The placemats were also the menu and he never really explained that, we just figured it out on our own. He came back about 5 minutes later and asked “ready?” I had seen a chalkboard with with specials of the day, so I asked him if there were any specials today. He began to describe plates that weren’t on the chalkboard. I was pretty putout by his attitude and I asked him when he was going to mention those to us? My friend wanted a sandwich that was on the chalkboard and he said that was only for breakfast. We told him we needed some more time to order because he had just explained the specials to us. A little bit later, we ordered our meals and drinks. They brought the food to us and my pork kabobs were raw in the middle and totally cold. Alfredo came by awhile later and asked if everything was okay. I said absolutely if the pork kabob was to be served raw and cold? Well, two more people came over and asked if I wanted another dish or did I want them to me a different dish. I told them that I had already told Alberto. Did they think I was ignorant? Finally, they brought me the dish and it was okay. Way too much sauce and the kebabs were mediocre. They asked if I wanted more wine. Are you serious? They wanted me to spend more money in the worst experience I’ve ever had in all my stays Mexico City? Then they wanted to comp me dessert. No thank you. The sad part is, one of my dear friends had highly recommended this restaurant to me and now he’s very embarrassed. He shouldn’t be, it wasn’t his fault. I’m telling you, be careful with this restaurant. It seems as if their reputation is not deserved. If you look at my other reviews, I’m usually very generous and understanding. The question I have is why would Alfredo treated me like that? Because I’m an American? Or because he’s a homophobe? Only he can answer that.More

Terrific place to try cuisine other than Mexican in Mexico city. This place is rather small but well decorated. It offers many good Italian and European dishes. Their tiramisu is one of the best I have tried. Price is reasonable and service is good.
