Ate at this El Cardenal (there are 3 in the city) and had a wonderful time. It is a beautiful restaurant. Housed in a colonial building (as is almost everything in the historical center) a beautiful elevator takes you up a floor or two and opens up on a wonderfully intimate room. Lots of wood. Friendly and professional service. Incredible... More

The prices are very fair. I would say that any restaurant with this quality of food and service is much more expensive This is a very... More

This restaurant is very popular with the locals as evidenced by the long line waiting for a table. It has an extensive menu of dishes. I would highly recommend this to travelers for a taste of the local cuisine.

This is our second time at el Cardenal. We have been both for lunch and breakfast. It is a well known breakfast spot because of it's signature hot chocolate and bread, both very good. I really enjoyed the lunch, but I have found better places for breakfast, namely Nico's which is one of my favorite restaurants in Mexico City. Lots... More

My favourite restaurant for Mexican traditional food. I strongly recommend their breakfast where you will find some exquisite plates. Also, don't forget to try "concha", a sweet pan with "nata" and hot chocolate... it is addictive!!!

This place has been around forever and was recommend by some friends who used to live in Mexico City. A bit austere but that is part of the old school charm. Delicious traditional mexican and super service. Yum!
