This was a good spot for dinner. It wasn’t my favorite but it was good food, good service and I’d go back eventually. We had the tuna tostadas-delicious. The fried fish tacos were pretty good, ceviche was very good. the house specialty fish with two...sauces was unique and tasty. The strawberry merengue dessert was fantastic!More

The seafood was fantastic! Perfectly cooked, seemed very fresh, very well flavored. We did feel the place is a bit rushed, no real attention to anything. Also the place is very loud, too many tables for its space. Terrible acoustics, some simple measures could probably...be taken against that. Given the price point very good value for money.More

Been here a couple times, even though we were lucky to get a table quite fast with a reservation once it’s better to make a reservation because this place is quite popular. For Mexico prices this place higher than most places with for example a...50usd octopus, which is probably very good because everything else we tried there was delicious. I want to especially praise the service, the waiters are fast, attentive and careful, it’s a pleasure to live a good tip because they deserve it. Interior isn’t the focus here, it’s unassuming and I didn’t mind that, food is the focus.More

The food was impeccable with the tuna tostadas and the strawberry meringue dessert being the star dishes of the evening. The special espresso cocktail was delicious and a must-try for those who like espresso martinis. I preferred the outdoor tables to the indoor tables since...the restaurant can get very loud and stuffy inside. Hot tip: make a reservation at least a week before you arrive.More

Back in 2020, when we were planning our trip to Mexico, a friend recommended this place where they had been twice during their trip in early 2019. Finally, thanks to the pandemic, I dug out his suggestions whilst being able to visit Mexico City in...2022. On our last day, we visited this place and was gutted we hadn’t come here on our first day so we could keep coming back!!! When we arrived, they said there wasn’t availability for another hour. We declined and walked away. They then chased us down the road as they had found us a table. Thank goodness!!! This place was great! We had various fish tacos and qasadillas which were delicious. Superb guacamole. I am writing this review on my final night of our two week honeymoon to Mexico. We have eaten well but both agree this was our best food!!!!More

From the speedy but courteous service, to the outrageously delicious food, this place is a winner. Very "sceney" but friendly and we were made to feel welcome/like locals

Great service by Miguel Margaritas nice. My wife had one with tequila and I had one with mescal. Both stronger than in other places We had the tostada atún which are to die for, followed by the aquachile (essentially Peruvian ceviche (but not as good...[viva Perú !!]) which was good. I recommend usually the round tortillas came with the table rather than the tortilla chips since the tortilla chips have a stronger flavour. And then we each had another margarita Would I come back? Most definitely. In fact we are hoping to to do so before we fly homeMore

We were an hour late for our reservation (which my airbnb host had made for us 2 months earlier) but even though the restaurant was crazy busy when we arrived at 2pm, the maitre d was able to squeeze us in about 10 minutes later....I was impressed. We loved the high energy of the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed watching the "well-heeled," mostly Mexican clientele while we ate our delicious tostadas de atun (our favorite and one of their specialties), aguachiles verdes con camarones, and a fantastic meringue/whipped cream/strawberry poster. We unfortunately missed the fig tart but will order that next time. Highly recommended for lunch which is its most popular meal and will definitely go back with a larger group so we can try more dishes. We wished we'd had room for more.More

We had a fantastic meal at Contramar. The seafood was fresh and delightfully well prepared. My excabeche was bursting with flavor and the accompanying condiment was spicy but didn't mask either flavor or freshness. The signature dish, the sized fish, is unique and wonderful. Be...sure to order the version with both chile (red sauce covering one side of the fish) and parsley (green sauce covering the other side of the fish). Dessert was good but nothing special like the seafood. You're actually better to get a seat out on the sidewalk if you don't want it noisy as the street noise is fairly well muffled while the interior is very noisy. Some reviewers complain about waiters "hovering" or accelerating dinner. Personally, I appreciated their efficiency. Do not expect the sort of leisurely pace you'd find in a restaurant in the American south or much of Europe, but that shouldn't negatively impact your ability to eat at your pace and enjoy your meal. Just know that when the last bite of your appetizer is gone, your entree will arrive immediately. Same with the push for dessert when you finish your entree. You will likely feel pressured to tip 20%, whether or not the service is perfect. The food and experience makes it worth it.More

This place has a very fast and great service, the food was excellent! loved the Huevos Rotos con Chistorra. My wife and I were very pleased with this restaurant. I'd recommend to order everything to share, that way you can try many more flavors😉

This place was amazing, a friend of mine recommended this restaurant. The food was delicious, the best dish is the “Tostadas de Atun” I think I could stay there eating those tostadas all day. Other impressive dishes including the tacos al pastor made with fish...instead of pork. Incredible. The place is always packed, reservations are recommended if going after 5pm. The ambience is pretty good, lots of locals. Service was impeccable. I want to go back.More

we were recommended Contramar by a friend who is from Mexico City as their favorite restaurant in CDMX. they were correct!! Rico, delicious. I had the grilled octopus and my wife fish. our tuna tostada was fantastic. the restaurant is Hugh and loud, but good...people watching. we ate at the bar, because there was a 2 hour wait and the bar was open after an hour. so make reservations ahead or be prepared to wait. luckily there is a lot to do in the neighborhood. the restaurant closes early because it is a seafood restaurant and that is the custom. great service too. a winner!!More

Phenomenal food, great service. Everything was super delicious and the atmosphere was upbeat without being chaotic. This was my fourth visit, and I’ll certainly return every time I come to CDMX.

It used to be the first stop on any trip to Mexico City. Service was impeccable, always polite. And the food would nearly explode with flavor and freshness. Sadly, it has not withstood the test of time. Service was borderline the whole night. The food...was nothing to write home about, and when you are in a city like Mexico, that's almost a sin. When I tipped 10%, the waiter was rude AF, saying :" was the service that bad?" trying to get a bigger tip. Unheard of in Mexico. I asked a friend who lives in the city and she told me that the heads of the restaurant travel a lot now and are no longer captaining the place. You could tell there were empty tables, when it used to be a line outside, and mostly foreigners, not locals any more.More

I would recommend that. It was packed with a long wait when I was there but also the best people watching in all of Mexico City.
