Gabriela Camara's Cala in San Francisco is one of my favorites, so I knew I'd have to visit one of her spots while in CDMX. It's always challenging to go to a seafood restaurant with someone allergic to crustaceans (luckily he was the fluent Spanish...speaker, just in case), but it was easy to accommodate his allergy. The fish was fresh and delicious. The preparations really highlight and complement the seafood well. Note the weekday hours - it was great for an early dinner, but plan accordingly.More

This was a very disappointing meal. We had high expectations after reading reviews and talking to friends that have been several times. We found the menu lacking creativity. The white fish with green sauce was dry with very little flavor. The tuna loin was good...quality but the preparation was ordinary. The cerviche was ok but it was far better in lima peru. The service was ok . We would not go out of our way for this restaurant.More

This is one of the best fish and seafood restaurants I’ve been to. Everything that we’ve tried was great. Catch of the Day fish fillet was exceptional! This place seem to be very full (and for a good reason), so reservations are highly recommended.

This is more than a restaurant - it's an urban event. This is where you go to get sensational food, wonderful service, and some of the best people-watching available on this earth. The patrons cover the gamut from wide-eyed tourists to sophisticated urban elites. The...staff puts on a whole separate show - one of perpetual, frictionless motion. I have never seen people move this fast while maintaining absolute control. The place is abuzz with kinetic energy and human drama writ large on a small stage. Great fun! Now for the food. We started with a bread basket and some spectacular hot green salsa (avocado, lime, and green chilis). Next, we shared tuna and avocado on small tostadas. Our next course was white fish served on soft taco shells. We saved the best to last: we finished with broiled witch fish, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. This dish was so flavorful and moist! Before the staff rolled us back onto the street in a wheelbarrow, we polished off an apple tart with ice cream and coffee. This is cuisine as art. This is Mexican culture in full color. Do not miss Contramar!More

We were lucky enough to get a reservation here (which you really must do, or expect a long wait). The food (fish, of course) was excellent and the service was professional. It's quite a place to people watch, too. We had the fish, in the...Contramar style (half adobo/half parsley) Loved everything about this restaurant.More

The service is exceptional, the fish is fresh and delicious (the tuna tostadas are ar must, i wish we ordered 2 plates), and the drinks are great. Fun place, lives up to the hype. We showed up 20 minutes early to our reservation and were...seated right away.More

Be sure to make a reservation for this very popular restaurant. We had delicious fish dishes recommended by our very helpful waiter.

We got lucky and were able to get into this place without a reservation within 30min of arriving. I am not much of a seafood person so I can be biased. The fish tacos were okay and only ate 1 or 2. I did like...the shrimp tostadas. The dessert was really good. The service was fantastic. This place is a bit pricey so just keep that in mind and I would attempt to make a reservation.More

Incredible and varied menu supplemented by daily specials - the food is just outstanding. The highest quality seafood augmented by genius in the kitchen. We went for small plates and got a good sampling - the tostadas atun are a must and then go from...there. It's a huge, bustling room the servers navigate as if choreographed - they took out 2 small tables and put a table for 10 in behind me (yes a whole table!) without a rustle. And they work together as an incredible team. If you can get a table here, take it at any time - it's worth eating at an odd hour (they are open like noon - 6). And it's been going like this at Contramar for some 20 years!!!!!More

I am from San Francisco where they have a sister restaurant Scala. We went there Saturday around 1 am we were told there's a two hour wait. We put our name down, took and uber to see the Vasconcelos Library, came back around 3. We...were seated right away. Had some tacos and fish, the wait was totally worth.More

I would recommend that. It was packed with a long wait when I was there but also the best people watching in all of Mexico City.
