This traditional Mexico City taquería has changed little since founded in early 1970s. Perhaps because they were the precursors of open-view kitchens. It is both fun and interesting! Tortillas are made by hand on site, wide selection of tacos and cazuelas, hearty soups, home made deserts. Quite inexpensive. A few tourists, mostly locals from nearby universities and families on the... More

First visited in 1997, been going back at least one a year ever since when we visit our family in Mexico City. Best tortilla soup I've ever had (I've been on a 19 year quest to top it). Mushroom, rajas poblanos tacos are fantastic.

I used to go in the evening for tacos to Taqueria la Lechuza with friends, after university classes ended in weekdays, back in the late seventies. It was one of the very best sitting taquerias close to South Insurgentes Avenue, in the south of Mexico City. Forty years later, La Lechuza is still as good as then and proudly holds... More

Well known by families south in the city during decades. Food is ok, not a great restaurant but good option in a budget.

This place looks like a hole in the wall but the tacos are amazing! You walk in, pick a table and they bring you a form like at a sushi place. Order a variety; it's all good. I strongly recommend the horchata (rice water). Also, the arroz con leche for dessert is great.

These are the first charcoal grilled tacos I have seen that compare in quality to Los Parados. The costilla was excellent as was the massive serving of pastor ... but the prices were simply a bit too elevated to give this place 4 or 5 stars. The frijoles charros were good as well.

If you're in the mood for a wide variety of tacos somewhere that's a cut above a corner taqueria, El Rincon is your place. It is, essentially, a neighborhood family restaurant serving home style food, and that means tacos, tacos and more tacos. The place is always bustling (we went there twice on our recent trip) with local folks. Find... More

My mother-in-law, who lives in Mexico City, recommended this place for lunch, as they have been eating at La Lechuza for years. They have a large assortment of tacos including the Mexico City special, tacos al pastor, and many other varieties such as rajas, chorizo, carnitas, etc. I started with tortilla soup which was delicious and large. I had ordered... More

A classic, authentic and well-aged place for tacos near Coyoacán and San Ángel. The place is very modest, full of locals, and fast-serviced. The place to go if visiting town and craving for real Mexican fast food.
