The place is simple, cozy, not fancy at all maybe a bit ugly.. waiters are busy as hell, so the treatment is not the best. But the food is awesome.. The prices are reasonable, since you get real good food quality. For me if traditional japanese is what you are looking for, Murakami is the best Japanese restaurant in Mexico... More

I had lunch at Murakami for the first time in May 2016. The place was pretty basic, the Japanese food was pretty much Ok. What I disliked: Waiters were seldom at our table, we had to wave and wave and wave and raise our voice and stand up to go get a waiter to come to our table. Several times.... More

Not related with the writer. I think. . .This restaurant has all the traditional dishes associated with traditional noncommercial japanese cuisine. This is what we sampled: Butara - This is a roasted cut from pork like thick pancetta with pepper and lemon delicious appetizzer. Agedashi - Deepfried Tofu in a delicious sauce with radish Tamago nigiri - Egg cake with... More

I am a big fan of Japanese food and I have been to many japanese restaurants in Mexico City. When I found Murakami I felt like I found heaven. Try fresh sashimi that melts in your mouth. It will make your day. Don't forget the desserts - my fav is frijol mochi and green tea mochi!!! The very best. Period.

They say that you should eat at a place where you can see nationals (e.g. if it is a chinese restaurant then chinese people) eating there. Well at Murakami, you can always see japanese nationals eating there! That's how good it is. Be ware, it is not the avocado + cream cheese sushi rolls place (that is not real japanese... More

Very good place to eat Japanese food. Nice Japanese ambiance. A lot of Japanese people eat there, which probably shows that this place is well worth a try if you are looking for real Japanese food.

There is a plethora of Sushi places in Mexico City, but not enough of the tradicional Japanese. Murakami is without a doubt that. Not just sushi but real Japanese food. And you can tell when you walk in and see that a good part of the staff and eaters are either Japanese or expats.

With so many Japanese restaurants in Mexico being "Mexicanized" with thing like Tampico Sauce or "chiles toreados", it is nice to have something nice and authentic in this area of Polanco filled with so many fast food places.

Generic japanese restaurant. It is located in a cool street in Polanco area full of successful restaurants. It was tasty, it had good vibe, the sushi chef was japanese, he wasn't in the best mood, but it was Saturday at 1 pm, very early. I sat at the sushi bar, it is cool they have one. The music was japan... More

My husband is Japanese and sometimes we want some good Japanese food here in Mexico. If we don't feel like driving we tend to come to Murakami. It is probably the 2nd best Japanese restaurant in Polanco, but the Japanese place in the Hyatt is more expensive so that is why we come here. The food is authentic, and while... More
