We stopped there for breakfast, rather late (10:00 AM), and the waiters were having breakfast! We were not welcome to the place, even though we were standing at the reception podium. The Maître finally approached us, and started ranting about the restaurant not being part...of the hotel housed in the same building; unrequested information! Besides, the place is rather dark and not enticing. Maybe for a romantic dinner...More

The place is beautiful and have a really nice ambiance. It was my first time in this spot. It was busy Sunday lunch we arrive around 4:30 pm the hostess said till 6:00 pm will be availability and we decided to wait but we wait...only 30 min. The experience started very good with the COVID-19 standards. But with the time our server got lost we had to called the manager to get a bottle elf wine and for the bill, tho hostess for tissues and limes even for replacement of cutlery. We ordered sopa de tortilla very nice presentation and taste and caldo ranchero was soooo disgusting, flavorless and kind of cold. One thing it got me very disappointed was the Chiles en hogada taste very very good but are overrated. The online menu doesn’t has price for them. But honestly $430.00 mexican pesos for this main course it’s insane Chile’s are no that big and doesn’t come with pomegranate and nogada. I think with COVID-19 some places are taking advantage of prices with some dishes and drinks for the value which is a shame. It’s a good place good food but I hate when industry want to over charge for no reason things. I work in this industry being restaurnat manager in a prestigious restaurnat in DOHA QATAR, I really know how to do this and honestly those things reject your market.More

As it was already later in the evening, the effect of walking into the courtyard is quite stunning. The lights in the trees really adds an ethereal quality. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated promptly. The food was solid, but upon comparison...to other places we ate in CDMX, I can say it was a little pricey (but still more affordable than what I'm used to!) My partner is a fluent Spanish speaker, so that might be a reason we didn't experience the rude service that other folks mention. I'd like to think my friends and I are generally amenable though. They have a great Mezcal selection, so it's a good place to get a taste for what you like. There was also a fortune teller who was walking by the tables - for a modest fee (I forget, but just a few coins), his bird would select a fortune for you. The whole things was just so charming. I'm glad it was my first meal in CDMX!More

The food and location is excellent. However, the demeanor of the waiters totally negates what should be a lovely dining experience. We went twice, and both times were met with rudeness. I’ll just note a few issues. We noticed all of the other tables were...receiving with explanation a small welcome appetizer. We were not offered that either visit. When I asked our server, he said that it was a salad on the menu (not true). I asked if there was a children’s menu. Both nights I was simply told no. On the second visit, I asked if he had recommendations for a child or if there were any small portion options. If the restaurant didn’t permit children, I was unaware and unadvised upon arrival. We had three servers standing behind our table most of our visit. I can’t say they were doing much more than ignoring our table. The second night, I did complain to El Capitan when after dinner we weren’t even offered dessert, we were just ignored. He did to improve our experience with dessert. However, I still would not recommend visiting. All guests should be treated with respect, we definitely were not on either visit. Go to El Balcón De Zocalo instead.More

Title says it all: very small portions, expensive for US standards, food was cold, didn’t have pulque flavor we wanted. Other Issue was we had about five different servers and they weren’t particularly friendly - felt like we were bothering them. Pro: indoor trees were...pretty.More

Eating in an outdoor courtyard with tea-light decorated trees was a joy, especially for those of us whose winters do not allow this in March! There were many authentic Mexican dishes. We started with a shared plate of guacamole with tortillas followed by empeñadas and...mole. Their 300 ML local wines were not extortionate (300 pesos) but good.More

The place was recommended to us by a friend and we booked a table for four people roughly 1 week in advance. We had the flour soup and the tortilla soup to share. Both were delicious. We received our food fast. It was presented nicely...with explanation to all the items in the table and how to use/ have them. We had four different main courses and everyone was satisfied with their food. I read some comments here that the service was rude but in our case the two waiters that took care of us were funny, in a good mood and very communicative. The only thing that stressed me a little was that I had the impression everything has to go really fast. Plates and glasses disappeared immediately while we quickly took the last sip. One waited spoke English very well and the other one still sufficient with our friendsMore

I ignored the reviews about the rude service and we decided to give it a try. We had reservations. The host strode up and barely glanced at us. We told him we had reservations. He started to check his list. At that point he took...a phone call that lasted about 7-8 minutes. Plenty of other employees seemed to be milling about without much to do. The place was half empty. A waiter finally came over to offer help. It was the one and only smile we received. Look, we don't need to be fawned over but speaking to us in rapid fire Spanish with little eye contact was not pleasant. We speak English and Italian and can make our way in Spanish speaking countries. This was just rude. I ordered the Tortilla soup and it came in a lovely bowl. There was obviously some sort of meaning to the bowl but who knows? A Rapid fire Spanish explanation from an angry waiter was really unpleasant. We ordered a specialty dessert that involved table side preparation. (Had I known I would have skipped it) One waiter wheeled the cart near our table, pushed it toward another waiter and waved at us. That waiter prepared the dessert, again with a rapid fire Spanish explanation, no smile, and a look of disdain. Then the check was presented. "Service 15%" A tip of 15% was demanded.... in English. Food was so-so. Take a hard pass. Go in and look around but don't eat here. Plenty of friendly, stunning places to eat in the city without having to endure this.More

We came to Azúl Historico following the advice of our guide and we were not disappointed. The space is very unique and surrounded by unique boutiques. The food is very good and we enjoyed everything that we’ve ordered. Do note that the dish sizes are...not very big.More

If kids are unusually well behaved after 8pmand are patient- perhaps. But this is not an ideal setting as the meal is not rushed or designed for kids under 10. Besides, it is a rather quiet place for an outdoor location
