Have eaten at La Opera several times over the past 6 or 7 years, and the Mexican and northern European-type food has always been tasty and enjoyable and the atmosphere vibrant. The peripatetic musicians who grace the place in the evenings add to the excitement and the ghosts of Villa and Zapata are always lurking. Reminiscent of the ornate Victorian... More

There are many restaurants in the city where you can enjoy the best of traditional Mexican recipes, with clear influence of colonial Spanish and indigenous cuisines. This is one of them. The service is prompt, professional, and friendly. The menu is wonderful, but consider carefully the suggested dishes since they offer seasonal dishes difficult to find in other places. I've... Make room in your itinerary and your appetite for this treat. It has it all: history, charm, excellent service & food. A local at the bar recommended the paella, and it was superior; authentic, tasty & a sizable portion. Clean & good prices. Obviously popular with the locals, always a good sign.

Tradition, tradition, tradition. You MUST see this place, even if you only have a drink at the bar. The atmosphere takes you back in time. Impeccable service, very good prices and magnificent food. Specially Spanish and traditional Mexican plates. Make sure not to park on the street, there are no signs and people may tell is fine to park there... More

A group of 8 of us went to this restaurant for a late dinner. The staff were attentive and the restaurant itself was attractive. However we all felt our meals were very average.I had a T bone steak and my wife had pork chops. The meat was overcooked and tasteless. In addition there was live music which was average to... More

David runs a tight ship. Good attentive staff who try very hard to be helpful. Good steak, cooked perfectly as requested. Small but very adequate wine list. Didn't expect to find a really nice Côte de Rhone on the wine list... and very well priced too

One of the must see spots in Mexico City as recommended by more than a few people, La Opera was not a disappointment. Located right downtown, centro Mexico City we visited La Opera around 5:00 PM for happy hour. It was packed with a happening vibe & the clientel leaning toward the hip, more affluent locals. It had an awesome... More

The setting is impressive - feels like a Parisian cafe. On the positive side, in addition to the décor, there is live music and good service. However my margarita was small and didn't taste as if it was made with fresh lemon juice. The prices were high compared with other similar bars. If you want to admire the decor, my... More
