This is the place to have the real Mexican food. Not the one from Taco Bell... They have real stuff like Escamole (ant eggs), a kind of fried worms and enchiladas moles (with spice chocolate). All very typical... Unfortunately, I didn't really like it. The Escamole was great, though. But I think it is worth trying...

A very charming old building and great atmosphere, perfect for traditional Mexican dishes that are simple and delicious; nicely presented. Everything about this place is charming and of course the food is very taste and good portions... The staff is super friendly! I'll be back and recommending this place to everyone!!!

This place has been open for many years and it is because they serve authentic Mexican food with great service. During August and September you must try the "Chile en Nogada". One if not the best in Mexico City.

Let me start off by saying: best margueritas in the area (maybe even the city). La Fonda (as we've nicknamed it) has become a regular for us over these 6 weeks we've spent in Mexico city. Simple traditional food for all tastes, and all of it tasty 😃. Can't really recommend a single dish, tough I suggest asking the waiters... More

Our hotel recommended we go here for dinner and we're glad we did. The place was on the smaller and felt like we were in a cute, Mexican family style kitchen. Lots of copper and bright colors decorated the place and we grabbed a little table by the window to people watch. Loved the empanadas. The mole was good but... More

Located in the Zona Rosa very traditional neighborhood. Small and familiar, great service. Food guacamole and chips, cheese plate with oil and cilantro very salted. The pork carnitas good and plenty with corn tortillas and food refried beens. Platanos not mature and sweet enough but good. The rice pudding and cafe de olla very good. Margaritas frozen or on ice... More

I've had lunch here many times over the last couple of years since finding this place, and it is consistently good. While on the smallish side, the restaurant is exceptionally clean, well decorated, and service is near-perfect. Fonda el Refugio has been in the Zona Rosa for a long time (since the 1950's?) and they will be around for a... More

It was recommended by the concierge in the hotel for typical Mexican food. It is a nice little restaurant and I mean little. The service was great. The server was very informative and helpful. They have menus in english and Spanish. I had guacamole and it was fresh and tasty. I had quesadillas , one with mushrooms, one with vegetables... More

I went with a coworker and based on reviews for MOLE near Krystal grand Reforma Hotel. We found the restaurant very quaint and friendly. The mole poblano was very good and my mixed grill was also very good. We found the prices to be reasonable. We would go back.

In the Zona Rosa, this restaurant has consistently provided fresh and savory authentic Mexican Quisine. All dining areas are quaint but the cleanliness of this restaurant adds a finishing touch. The copper pots on the wall along with excellent service staff are finishing touches to a wonderful evening. Make sure you get a sampling of the numerous appetizers. These are... More

Traditional Mexican Cuisine since 1954. Everything is made artisanally. We cook all our dishes in clay pots. We prepare our moles from scratch. Cook our own tortilla dough using the ancient nixtamalization process and then grinding the corn in our own volcanic rock mill. We grind & stuff our own sausage, hanging it & letting it cure for a whole week before it can be used. All our desserts are made also in either copper or clay pots. Be sure to ask for a tour of the kitchen so you can witness this first hand and also take a lesson on how to make tortillas and our world famous margaritas.
