Wonderful atmosphere. Folkloric. Great decorations. Trio music in the afternoon, mariachis in the evening. Excellent and friendly service. Good food and the biggest Margaritas I have ever seen!! Must go there.

Terrific food that comes out almost as soon as you order. The restaurant has sayings painted on the wall as well as cute paintings of significant Latin people. The live mariachi band really made it entertaining.

Nice and friendly atmosphere, in a typical Mexican restaurant. Mariachi will make your stay even more pleasant. Good typical food. Don't miss their special tequila with many flavours, it will take you throughout all your meal. Fair prices

This restaurant is a cheesy tourist trap. The food was average. You can get way better and more authentic Mexican food in Mexico City. The mariachi band was too loud so you can't hear anyone at your table.

If you are in the Polanco/Chapultepec area this is a great place for Mexican food and folklore. We ordered for 2 people 3 starters and were more than satisfied. In our opinion, portions are big!

Villa Maria From the beginning. The look and feel of the restaurant is inviting. The outfits of the hostess and waitress are a blend of typical and some fashion underneath. Music is in the air. Although not as long as I expected or a Mexican...More

Villa Maria serves excellent traditional Mexican food with a sense of humor on the walls. The decor is very pleasant but the "dichos" on the walls make the place. "Tequila is the viagra of Mexico", etc. The food is great, the service excellent, the margaritas...More

Don't pass up the tamarind margarita (ask for the smaller size, unless you're thirsty and/or sharing - the reg size is as big as your head) or the black bean soup. Very festive atmosphere, complete with mariachi band. I think I'll have to go back...More

It is a good place, it is in Polanco, an upscale zone. It is a little expensive, but worth a trip. I order a chicken blanket it was good. Is the place to take foreigners for Mexican food in a really nice environment.

I was in Mexico City for business. I asked my clients to take me to a good typical Mexican restaurant. They chose this place. It was a very crowded place for lunch. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. There are a lot of good...More

I don't know when it first opened but I know it's been around a long time. It is likely the restaurant you visited.
