Nothing special about this place. Average food, average service, somewhat gringo-ized menu. I'm told by everyone that it used to be better. Almost in a great location, but not quite.

After being in Guanajuato for almost two weeks, I finally got to eat at this restaurant, which I really liked three years ago. It was just as good as I remembered it. Make sure to try any of the meals designated as El Abue specials, as these are the ones prepared using the family's handed down recipes. It is located... More

It took a loooong time to get the food. Then they brought me the wrong item. After another looooong wait, I got my meal. Lukewarm, bland, and quite unremarkable. Not the chiles en nogado of my dreams. At this point I was hungry and needed to get to a concert. So I just ate it. For the same price, I... More

Had a late lunch .... tocos and a beer. Food was ...OK ... I found the restaurant to be dark. No view. Did not return as there are much better choices in Guanajuato.

We read a lot of good reviews about El Abue and were very excited to eat lunch there. Unfortunately, the lunch set menu was not good, the soup had no favor, the milanese (fried breaded chicken) also had no favor. Our dessert was papaya with colorful chocolate sprinkles. I usually take photos of what I enjoy eating overseas ... but... More

There are few good restaurants in Guanajuato but El Abue is one of the best. The food is DELICIOUS and they are the only place that has good wine that is not overpriced. We will always come back to this place. It's intimate and the service is excellent!

Cozy restaurant with lots of ambience - dark wood booths, art work & knickknacks on the walls; a few blocks from the University of Guanajuato; written up in both Fodor's and Frommer's and mentioned in the NY Times (not clear how long ago). Caesar salad was rather pedestrian; they did not make it fresh in front of the customer as... More

They had a 2 for 1 cocktail offer. Sadly, they have no clue how to prepare cocktails. Live music was great. Food was nothing special and too pricey. Used to be THE place to go..,then it got a new owner.

ABUE is beautiful inside with well thought out decoration, lighting, interior design and atmosphere. The service is excellent, the food is also high quaility, with a large wine list and they sell fresh-baked integral wheat and garlic bread every day. This is a romantic restaurant any time of day, that will certainly please your wife, girlfriend or boyfriend. Very well... More

We were a bit turned off when we were presented with a stock menu that made it obvious that this was a chain. But when we got our food we were very pleasantly surprised. All of the ingredients were fresh and dishes were definitely made to order. The price was reasonable and there was a good variety. Recommended!
