Our daughter and son-in-law visited this lively Mexican bistro in their honeymoon and enjoyed it so much that we couldn't wait to visit. It's the real McCoy for a good Mexican breakfast or brunch, with fresh tortillas made continuously right in the dining area. Carmelita herself came out when we revealed our daughter's terrific experience and the warmth of her... More

They were out of tuna. They were out of Mahi-Mahi. They were out of rib-eye.... And this is a restaurant half full, at 8 p.m..... Then the show came on, and we forgot we were hungry.

Great staff and you will clean your plate. The chillequitas are a specialty and for good reason. Beef dish was above expectations

The food was very good. We had red snapper, stuffed shrimp and spicey shrimp. On our first visit I had the ribs which were great. They are open for breakfast and lunch. They also serve dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with a "show" at 8:30. Their signs and web site do not have it noted as of yet.... More

First off, the food is wonderful with a wide variety of well-prepared traditional Mexican dishes and drinks. I love this place because it is tucked away from the regular tourist beach scene and has a mixed Mexican, Anglo clientele. The prices are moderate, the service excellent, spotlessly clean and it gives you a chance to make contact w/ local folk... More

Very nice patio, excellent food and good choices, friendly staff who were very helpful. We went there for lunch. They are open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. Apparently, they have music on the evenings they are open. I would definitely go back again.

We've been to Carmalita's for breakfast several times over the past two years. The menu options are abundant and all are prepared with attention to both taste and appearance. The morning pastry cart rolls up to your table so you can make your own choices (we recommend the corn bread cake). Wait staff is very attentive to every need of... More

Went here for breakfast and was packed quickly with tourists. Breakfast was good. Mosquitos or what ever was biting me during the wait. Bathrooms non functional. No flush and no water in both ladies and men's. Price was ok and service good.

From the street you would not recognize this as a restaurant, but as you walk around you are drawn into a nice patio area that is comfortable. Carmelita's daughter was our hostess and she was a pleasure to talk to and very enthusiastic and helpful with suggestions. We had found ourselves ordering too much at other restaurants so we decided... More

After reading the comments we booked a table for dinner expecting amazing home made Mexican food. We both ordered tuna and mahi-mahi. Tuna was overcooked and the garlic sauce was very oily and the mahi-mahi with escabeche was good but we had the same dish at many other restaurants. The location is not great as it is on a very... Description
We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.
