I went here twice on my last visit to Zihuatanejo and had the best breakfast and lunch ever in Mexico and I've been just about everywhere in Mexico. The owners are amazing people that love to cook and meet their guest.

We went there for breakfast, very friendly service. We wanted to try everything but obviously couldn't . We ordered the huevos a la pastilla, half an order of aporreadillo and half an order of costillas de puerco. All the dishes were great. We sat close to the kitchen and saw how clean it was. Since we missed the pozole on... More

We had a wonderful late lunch at Carmelita's. You can feel the love and warmth when you walk through the door. A beautiful patio with extremely attentive servers who take care to explain the menu on English for those who don't read Spanish fluently (us!). We had the AMAZINGLY sweet corn tamales and guacamole to start. We couldn't decide on... More

Carmelita's started as a stall in the airport and became an oddly located favorite for regulars. The current location is on a heavily trafficked street but the noise and dirt are ingeniously blocked off with shades and plants. Carmen has upgraded the restaurant in stages. Last season she added restrooms that are equal to better hotels. The menu features traditional... More

We had a hard time finding it and probably walked for about 1 your before we found it. The food was excellent, I ate whatever the waitress recommended and it was delicious. My husband had ribs and he liked them. The service was outstanding.

Mole sauce over chicken enchiladas was the best I have had. Not sweet, but with a bit of fresh tang and depth. Chili Relleno with pulpo (octopus). was excellent. Watermelon water to refreshingly wash it down. 😊

We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.
