We stayed at the bungalows of Rosalba and her family, who also own La Gula restaurant. It was amazing. There are many restaurants on this strip, but La Gula is above the street with excellent views of the town, and much quieter. The food was exciting and fresh, and still reasonably priced. I have food allergies, and they were willing... More

We ate here one day after walking all over this nice little town and chose to eat our last dinner here before we left to go home. This is a first class restaurant, with excellent service. The food was amazing, fresh and nicely presented. The service was great and the people were very friendly. I really like that they recognize... More

We went to La Gula with 6 friends. The food prep is artistic and the dishes are delicious. It seems like an upscale restaurant in any metropolis in Canada. I had Mahi Mahi with shrimp. The hors d'oeuvre was a bonus and was served to everyone. I also enjoyed the chocolate parfait. Everyone at our table was delighted with their... More

So walking around Zihua "safely", usually means you have to keep your eyes on the street and where you're walking. Hopefully you save yourself from stumbling. Unfortunately, you're gonna miss La Gula. It's located upstairs on the S side of Calle Adelita. Owned and operated by husband (chef) & wife (floor manager). Beautiful views of the street scene, little or... More

We were tired of the usual, shrimp and fish done every which way, tough meat, tacos etc. so thought we would try La Gula. We were not disppointed. The menu is wide ranging and different. Both had something different, my Pork Chop with special sauce was juicy and TENDER, my wife had a chicken dish which she enjoyed. They serve... More

You have to climb a flight of stairs from the street to dine here but once you arrive, you find a lovely atmosphere with a balcony overlooking the street below. We ate here several times and each time were warmly greeted. Service was superb and the menu was eclectic. The owner advertises the menu as slow food, freshly prepared gourmet... More

We had walked by and admired the balcony dining overlooking Calle Adelita many times before eating at La Gula on the last night of our stay in Zihuatenejo. The dining room was surprisingly larger than the balcony visible from below. And, although you would want a balcony table if available, from which you can look down on the festive and... More

Went with a group of 4, and truly enjoyed the whole dining experience! From the open air ambience, to the professional service, the quality of food, and presentation, this was a big hit with our group. A very relaxed, and comfortable pace, enhanced our visit, as we were not rushed, in any way. The serving staff were courteous, friendly, and... More

I've been to La Gula twice now and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The open air atmosphere is a step up from the typical on-street dining of Zi, yet still casual and offering great value. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. All in all, a terrific evening of fine food and gracious service. We'll be back!
