We were actually going to a different restauratnt when we came upon Johnny's Diner. This was late afternoon and they were not busy at the time. We had read about it perviously on Trip Advisor.
We were seated by the door so we could watch...the people going by. This is always interesting in PV since there is such a mixture.
We were in the mood for a hotdog. We both ordered the chili dog with french fries. My wife also ordered the sweet potato fries. This is not fast food. The hotdogs and fries were cooked after the order was taken. The hotdog was roasted - not boiled. The chili was slightly spicey and there was cheese under the chili and on top of the hotdog. It was good. The fries were good. It was quiet with light music in the background. We observed some of the other food being served to customer seated on the sidewalk. It looked very interesting. We plan to return to try out some of the other offerings.More
Had coffee and dessert while waiting for friends who were in Act II which is across the street. The waitress was not only competent and friendly but so much fun. Our friends joined us after their show and we all had coffee and dessert which...was very good!!More
Visited with my wife, and was very pleased. We sat in their outdoor courtyard in the back. Service was very good, and we both had “green juice” to start. One of the best I’ve had ... you could hear the blender making it fresh, and...when it arrived, it tasted it ... delicious. My wife had the fruit plate, and I had eggs Benedict. Both dishes were great. In fact, I would say the best eggs Benedict I had in Puerto Vallarta. Fresh tasting, and a good strong hollandaise flavour. Good pricing too! Consistent with the other restaurants in Zona Romantica, but much cheaper than “resort” breakfast.More
Returned to Johnny's to sit in their delightful rear garden and am glad to report that their eggs benedict are probably the best in PV and will stand up to the best anywhere. My wife had a perfectly cooked omelet, not over done. The plentiful...coffee refills are very good. A little expensive, but worth it. So when the lines at Toucan, or the pancake house are long, do yourself a favor and walk down the street a block to the delightful Johnny's Diner.More
First time here at Johnny's Diner, on Bassillo Badillo. Biscuits and gravy on sign board. Hard to describe how bad it was. Sausage gravy had grey specks I thought was sausage, it wasn't, not sure there was any. Homemade biscuits fell apart with touch, not...sure what they were. You could not lift one to see as they fell apart like cornmeal in a box. Hashbrowns greasy all the way through, I don't think it was butter. I told friends it was worst breakfast I've ever had in Mx. But I think it's the worst period. Waitress didn't even comment on picking up full plate, I'm sure she knows, not the usual " how was your breakfast?".More
You gotta try these burgers! We went to Johnny’s late one afternoon because we were craving a hamburger and the sign out front said “Burgers.” They are huge! Easy for us to share. The staff is great too. They ask how you would like your...burger cooked.
I recommend the seeded bun - it has black sesame seeds. My wife loved the bleu cheese burger.
They have sidewalk seating and inside seating, but we sat in the beautiful rear courtyard area to be away from the street.
There are ceiling fans and portable fans to keep people cool. They have a small full bar inside and a cappuccino machine.
We are definitely going back!More
I love biscuits and gravy for breakfast!! We saw the sign saying biscuits and gravy the day before while going to Canopy River and thought we would try it for breakfast on our last morning in PV. We are glad we did!!! The coffee was...fresh and delicious, the cokes were ice cold and the biscuits and gravy amazing!! The service was also excellent! I wish we would have found this place earlier in the week!!! We definitely would have made more visits!!More
