Ate here on a Tuesday. The band, Las Mambas, were playing. We each had the ribs. Our meals were excellent, the band was very good, the setting is really good. Will definitely go back there.

We recently visited El Rio BBQ and had a great time. Many of the locals were swimming in the river. Bob and Gilberto were playing some great music. The food was very good and we will certainly return on our next visit to PV.

My family visited here on St Patrick's Day, and we arrived when they opened at noon. We chose chairs near the river where we could sit with our feet in the sand. There were a number of different servers and some spoke more English than...others. We enjoyed several buckets of beer and cocktails while we spent some time swimming in the river. For lunch, we got an order of two jalapenos (one stuffed with cheese and one stuffed with pulled pork). Both were very good. We also ordered the chips with salsa and guacamole which we really enjoyed. For lunch, my wife and I split the pork burrito. It had lots of meat and cheese inside, but was a bit unusual since it also had some cabbage in it. Others in my family had the pulled pork sandwich which looked really good. An all woman rock band (Black Mamba) played at 2 pm which we all really enjoyed.More

We heard about El Rio BBQ-Bar, then read the reviews and decided we had to check it out while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta. Unfortunately we arrived there just after opening due to our previous excursion being cancelled due to Covid-19. This place doesn’t get popping...till at least 3pm and we were there at 11:30am. However, that just meant we had the place to ourselves. Great service and awesome food. I’m a foodie and we love to eat as a family. I make BBQ at home and of like to try BBQ restaurants often being disappointed. However, this place delivered. I had the ribs, my wife had chicken burrito and my son had the beef burger and fries. Wow, all of it was great. The ribs were huge and flavourful, the homemade sauce was very good as well. My wife loved the burrito and thought the guacamole was some of the best she’s ever had. My son apologized to me in advanced and declared it was the best burger he’d ever had (he loves my cooking). I couldn’t get upset, it was really good. Well seasoned and those bums were awesome. It’s situated right by a very clear river that you can swim in and later in the day a live band plays. Highly recommend!!!More

Set in the hills this bbq place is a surprise. A beautiful setting backed on to a river valley. Good food and entertainment. A little out of the way but worth finding.

This is my second visit to El Rio, and I had so much fun! They feature a large menu, and the entertainment was awesome, an Elvis impersonator !

We had a wonderful lunch at El Rio BBQ. Set on the Rio Cuale, the scenery and atmosphere were wonderful beside the river with a huge cliff on the other side. Ribs were great.

We went a couple of times. Once on a Sunday and again on a Thursday. The band on the Sunday was really good and the place was quite quiet. Food was ok and the service was fine. When we went on a Thursday the place...was hopping and filled to capacity. It was a lot of fun people watching and the band was really very good. We had a great afternoon. We ordered ribs and they were only ok. If we return to PV we will make a point of going again to listen to the music but we will order something else of the menu. Looking at other people's plates it seemed that there are lots of good choices.More

Fabulous outdoor venue with lots of seating, right on the Rio Cuale. You'll kids running through I their bathing suits to jump in the river and play. Some of the adult patrons as well will take a dip. Best BBQ with massive beef ribs, BBQ...beef, sausages as well as tacos salads and a full bar.More

The food, especially the ribs are very good. The service is top notch. The staff attentive and helpful. My only complaint is the price. For a small 1/4 rack order its about $18 cdn. That's insane. A Dos Equis that I can buy for 12...pesos us 40 here along with Modello especial. Nice location and staff, but unfortunately in my opinion they are way overpriced compared to their competition.More

I don’t know you’d have to ask before ordering. Try calling first.. Note* However, from what I’ve experience in the states and internationally typicaliy most restaurants don’t over 6 parties or more.

You don't say what hotel you are staying at, but I am assuming you will have to get into town either by bus or cab to catch the 04 bus to Paso Ancho. You can catch the R-04 bus, on its way to Paso Ancho and El Rio BBQ, is... More
