Frida Restaurant & Bar
Three of us went to Frida bar and restaurant after attending the Sunset Malecon Sculpture tour. The restaurant area is upstairs and bar downstairs, so you actually receive two checks, a tad confusing.
We sat on...the balcony area overlooking the street.
They have a small menu but very reasonable prices. We had a good Chicken Cordon Blue with mashed potatoes and veggies, large portions for 160 pesos.
A separate bill for the tequila shot and diet coke totalling 70 pesos.
Service was fine but somewhat slow due to having to get drinks downstairs, I think. It is a very small simple place with decent food. If in the area worth a visit but not somewhere to go out of way for.More
Mi amigo and I have had dinner here every year for the past 5 years and each year it is tasty and delicious. Tonight, we both ordered the fijitas...him the chicken and me the shrimp. Before eating, we ordered a Corona and a Pacifico and...were served chips and non-spicy salsa. It was yummy. Our waiter was Luis. He was friendly and helpful in our ordering. Both dishes arrived quickly and had large portions of chicken and shrimp. The tortillas were very hot. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. The chef stopped at our table see how we were enjoying our meal. It was incredible. The pricing is very reasonable. Overall i highly recommend Freda’s Kitchen.More
Recommended by friends we went along one evening and had dinner with my partner on the upstairs terrace , to access this you have to go thru a smoky bar with drinking customers and climb a spiral staircase to access the dining room and terrace...Once seated by Luis a young Mexican waiter we noticed the establishment was very quirky & tired with lots of Frida Karlo prints and posters but the ethics worked and menus and drinks were delivered pretty quickly along with smiles
We choose Chicken Wings to share with BBQ sauce and to follow a Caesar Salad and Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken all dishes were cooked well and presented to us
Luis offered desserts but we declined as to being full and ended with a nightcap
Our meal with Four Beers , One Margarita and One Soft Drink was 750 Pesos this converted to Sterling was £30 including tips a great bargain and delightful placeMore
Not fancy but tasty. Welcome by staff and customers upon entering. Chose to sit upstairs on the balcony and glad we did. Move view of the area. Food was tasty and good, not too much and priced well. Will be going back in future trips.
If you want somewhere simple no fancy no frills but decent good food this is your place ! I have been here many times ( they always have a special / and may have run out of options which I like )
It’s good hearty...food, and a good menu choice. The shrimp are always good! My only downside is seperate bills for food and drink. However that’s so small in the grand scheme of a pretty decent restaurant when you just want hearty good food ! I will keep returning !More
Frida is a little gem of a bar/restaurant in the heart of downtown. Locals pricing and very popular with full time residents of Vallarta. I eat here often and have always had great meals. Beto really cares about the food he’s preparing and you can...see him bringing in the evening´s fresh ingredients every afternoon. My only hesitation in writing this review is that I don’t want to lose my ability to a get a great table once everyone else finds out how special it is. This is not a tourist restaurant. Expect lots of charm and local characters. Enjoy!More
